Fantastic 2-bedroom tiny house rental conveniently located in golden circle. We were 30min or less from all the major sightseeing destinations including waterfalls, craters, and several lagoons/thermal baths.
House itself is well equipped with all basic needs including for basic cooking. Furnishings are modern and comfortable.
House is in middle of a farm field which also made it private, quiet, and very relaxed. Also gave us great nature encounters including an arctic fox on our porch, visible northern lights from our bedroom window, and local birds on all sides.
Great for families, nature lovers, and those who prefer a space to themselves.
Things to be aware of: The developer is clearly in the process of building multiple tiny homes on this beautiful property. We had no issues with construction noise or anything like that, although once you get through the main gate, it was a little hard to find the house as they haven’t labeled everything yet. That said, one call to customer service and they helped us find it right away. Very friendly service on the phone.
Very modern and nice little house in the middle of nowhere. We were very lucky with the northern lights. The windows in the roof are cool and something unique.
Please note that the key box was frozen (end of October) and therefore we had problems to open it. A few more hooks in the bathroom would be a nice addition.
All in all we had a very nice and unique stay.

Management is no available when you need them
The cabin is nice and in a quiet setting but the management is TOTALLY incompetent. I was given misinformation about the gate and not told to later that the contact # is done on what'sap. We got there and many tries later, trying to get the gate up and trying to contact the management, could not get anything to work. Of course franticly emailing with no results and in the middle of nowhere with no one around we felt a bit panicked to say the least. When another landlord, who owned some other cabins on the street, came by and helped us get through the gate and find our cabin. Which had NO NUMBER on it. The management contacted me a day and a half later with an apology. So bottom line, you are on your own if you choose to rent here.
TL;DR version: avoid at all costs. In fact, avoid Aurora as a management company at all costs.
There is no climate control in the house and no screens. So the choices are either: live in a house that’s 33 C or open all windows and doors to get eaten alive by gnats and midges. I did ask about shutting off the fuses to the house because the only way to control temperature is to shut electricity off.
I left messages but only got responses “thank you for your understanding”. Three days later I got a “kindly confirm if the issue is taken care of”. I of course said no one ever even came out or contacted us.
Next: bed bugs everywhere. Everyone in the family were consumed with bedbugs, and my wife ended up in urgent care. The second part of our vacation needs altering now, so even more of an added cost to us.
Response of property: “bugs are part of Iceland”.
Yes, that is true, and everyone knows that. Bed bugs are not supposed to be everywhere though, and indeed if bugs are so prevalent, why not screens? Or better yet why not the ability to shut the heat off? Also in the 4 days we were there, no one responded to our message or came out. Eventually they said “it’s hard to get out to you because we have so many properties to manage”.
Look, you’re going to spend $1000+ for a rental in Iceland. There are A LOT of options to choose from. Choose another option. Avoid Aurora rentals AT ALL COSTS.
