We stayed at a Railway Workers hotel and camping grounds - very basic and very soviet-like. This ovoo is at the top of the range behind the hotel complex, a slippery and cold walk in the depths of winter. You need to walk three times around the ovoo. The silk ribbons you see are for the sky and the earth. #snow
After checking out the detail on the roof, just look at those endless vistas of the steppes of Mongolia. Although quite difficult to find, Amarbuyasgalant Monastery is worth the long days of driving on rough roads. Spend some quiet hours at this working monastery.
This is a working monastery way out on the steppes. It takes at least a couple of day’s to drive out there along barely-there tracks from Ulaanbaatar. The monks are carrying what they need to prepare milk tea, a quintessential beverage out in the steppes.
