Vacations Close To Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Society

We stayed here Friday night and arrived pretty late. The area was a little outside of my comfort zone, and there were several people coming in and out of the lobby throughout the night who did not appear to be hotel guests, which made me feel somewhat uncomfortable. For lack of better wording homeless. The first room we were given had what appeared to be a blood stain on the sheets, so we requested another room. The second room was okay for the price, but both bathrooms we saw had mold and could definitely use better cleaning and maintenance. Overall, the hotel needs some upkeep. The next morning, I asked the front desk around 10:15 if we could check out about 15 minutes late because my best friend still needed to shower. I understand being told no because they were booked, but the tone of the response came across as rude. I work in customer service, and tone matters. What really surprised me was housekeeping knocking on our door at 10:59am when checkout was at 11:00. We were already packing and preparing to leave, so that felt unnecessary. Overall, you get what you pay for. The stay served its purpose, but cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service could definitely be improved. This hotel was a great choice. It was neat, clean, and the room was a decent size with comfortable beds. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cost of the room was a bargain.

They were renovating so there wasn't a breakfast or pool access, but otherwise we had a great room with great service during check-in. We had the jacuzzi room with the king bed, which I highly recommend!

The desk folks were very kind and helpful. The breakfast was wonderful and more than ex0ected. Room was clean and nicely kept. The pool was great as well. Only thing negative...hot tub was cold, gross slime on sides and had an odor. Hopefully it gets fixed.
