Stunning place but no atmosphere

We stayed here for one night on our way to the Normandy beaches. The Chateau and grounds are stunning however there was no atmosphere and the staff were not very welcoming on arrival or helpful. The breakfast was at best mediocre and it was almost as if you weren’t allowed to talk or make any kind of noise in the breakfast room/restaurant.

The chateau from the outside looks magnificent. After check in there is no assistance with luggage. No elevator. Walked up three flights of dangerous floors. The room needs some attention. The bathroom door wouldn’t even close.

Nous avions rĂ©servĂ© une chambre a 180€, mais celle ci avait une odeur de peinture. Nous avons donc demandĂ© Ă  changer, (apres une reflexion de l’accueil sur le fait d’avoir rĂ©servĂ© via un site au dernier moment) on nous indique qu’il n’y a plus de chambre a ce tarif et nous avons donc du prendre une chambre a 230€. Sans les petit dej. A ce prix la, une seule petite bouteille d’eau dans la chambre, pas de bouilloire pour un thĂ© ou cafĂ© (quand on sait qu’il n’y a rien autour pour faire de petites courses). Donc trĂšs chĂšre pour ce que c’est! Meme si le parc est sympa. Concernant les repas, c’est tres bon, rien a dire et le cout est normal pour ce type d’hotel.

Extremely disappointing.

If you are not claustrophobic, then stay in room 33. You will be. Electricity permitting. It is defficient like quite some more functions of this hotel. The handyman is the only person it seems, who has ever heard about friendliness. Then of course, he had to pass by regularly. Passage to the bathroom was a joke. Disfunction thematic. Staff does its best at being unfriendly. No Wi-fi, though promised, available.

It is a beautiful historic location with lot's of heritage. Be ready for a climb to your room if you are on the second or third floor. There are no lifts and the grand staircase is grand. The staff are friendly and the serving of the food is exceptional

Magnifique endroit

Cadre magnifique et trÚs romantique, avec un grand parc et une trÚs belle décoration intérieure, sur le thÚme de Sissi. Notre chambre, la plus économique, est trÚs calme, mais manque de confort : Lit de 140, pas de sÚche-cheveux pas de peignoirs alors que ceux-ci étaient mentionnés dans la réservation hotels.com. La télévision fonctionne trÚs mal : signal insuffisant sur presque toutes les chaßnes. Idem pour le wi-fi dans la chambre. Les verres n'ont pas été nettoyés durant notre séjour (3 nuits). Parking sous-dimensionné.

Gorgeous landscape in a quiet town tucked away from the tourism of Fecamp and Eteret. The dinner is quite excellent and the restaurant comes highly recommended!! The bedroom we stayed in was just old and "cheap," and it failed to echo the grandeur of the rest of the property. I chose to stay in a renovated castle to feel (for a few nights at least,) like a princess, but really, I felt like I was in a cheap Hilton hotel off some highway when I entered my room. It wasn't a terrible stay, but the bedroom itself just lacked the "oomph" that the rest of the hotel gives off. So, if you are going to stay here and want that Kingly experience, I would recommend charging up for a more expensive room, or find a different renovated castle and visit Sissi for the dinner.
