Most of the staff did not seem friendly/helpful at all which was strange as every other of the hotels i stayed in during my stay at Madeira that was the number one thing. The room (atleast where i was) gave a real 'The Shining' vibe. The bathroom was relatively modern but the rest of the room was too outdated. Not something i really care about but this poor carpet is praying daily to be changed.. Spa was great, small but did the job and looked good. Resturant on site which i did not use. Dont dream of checking in before 15.00

If you are planning on taking an early morning flight this is probably the best location, just 5 minutes drive from airport. Breakfast was nice with made to order eggs, coffee, variety of fresh fruits and yogurt.

Overall a good stay, property is in a quiet area. Not much to do in Santa Cruz which is nice. I did the half board option and honestly would skip it next time. The food was basic cafeteria food, par at best.

Airport Perfect!

This is our go to hotel when flying out of Madeira Island. Staff is extremely accommodating. Although we left for the airport at 3 AM, we were provided with a boxed breakfasts. It is only about a 10 minute cab ride to the airport and runs around 10 euros. Perfect and convenient.

The property was absolutely lovely. I had no idea there was any renovation going on on the outside until I saw it from my balcony. The workers were extremely quiet. The staff at the front desk offered me a breakfast box since I was leaving early in the morning and accommodated my dietary restriction. My room was upgraded based on my Expedia status. This almost never happens even when I’m eligible for it. If I’m ever back in Madeira, I will definitely be staying here again.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome — friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to make our stay special. The location couldn’t be better: right on the waterfront with breathtaking ocean views and just a short stroll from the charming town of Santa Cruz. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with lush gardens and a serene atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. Our room was spotless, spacious, and thoughtfully designed, with a balcony overlooking the Atlantic — waking up to the sound of the waves was pure bliss. The facilities are excellent: a fantastic outdoor pool, a relaxing spa, and plenty of space to unwind. The food deserves a special mention. Every meal — from the bountiful breakfast buffet to the evening dinners — was delicious and beautifully presented, with a wonderful selection of local and international dishes. The service team was always professional and genuinely kind. Vila Galé Santa Cruz manages to be both luxurious and laid-back — ideal for families, couples, or anyone looking to truly relax. Property was clean, easy to find, within walking distance to the airport. It is VERY loud when trying to sleep due to flights overhead. We splurged and paid for the all inclusive after our flight was cancelled, it was a waste of money. Multiple things were not actually included, and all inclusive received the same treatment as those who were put up by the airlines. It was not worth an additional $159. Rooms are very dated, carpet on the floors. Indoor and outdoor pools are beautiful. Beach is terrible

Our flight was cancelled so we needed a reasonable hotel near the airport. This hotel was great it was reasonably priced and breakfast was included. Our flight was before breakfast so they packed us breakfast boxes which was nice. We had amazing rooms out our windows. The bathroom was large and clean. Definitely a great stay for our purpose.

This is a lovely hotel in a cute town. The pool areas are nice (though I’d have to call the hot tub a “tepid tub”) and the grounds are lovely. There’s a nice promenade outside. The room was nice enough but the lighting was so low you couldn’t see. And no tissues are supplied. In my book, tissues are non-negotiable for a hotel that claims to be 4-stars. The front desk was understaffed at all times. It took 20 minutes to check in (why I don’t know) and far too long to check out. The breakfast was amazing. All in all, if you don’t mind a few inconveniences, this is a nice place to stay.

Only stopped one night as we were flying out to the Azores the following day. Hotel nice, close to the airport (5mins in taxi), Santa Cruz is very pleasant to walk around, nice cafes/restaurants. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.
