The Rose Garden Inn is nothing fancy, but it provided the basics. The outside of the property was clean but a bit rundown - not quite the rose garden image I had in mind, but my room was clean and had everything I needed. I had to ask for an ice bucket and the Wifi password, but that wasn't a problem. The parking lot is ample (just). From my perspective, the best aspects of this motel were its central location and the fact that the manager agreed ahead of time to save me a lower floor room and allow me to keep my bike safely stored therein when I wasn't riding it.

Staff were all very friendly!! Pillows on bed were awful. Walls are paper thin and plumbing is very loud. Woke up to the sound of an old man in a different room coughing & a toilet flushing that sounded like a train. Room was clean. Uncomfortable sleeps, but everything else was fine. 5 mins away from downtown which is nice.

Location is good on upper state street- easy walking to restaurants and shopping. Price was low - hotel was pretty quiet considering location. Felt safe enough - ample and free parking. A very basic hotel - no amenities, not super clean feeling. Better in rooms than from parking lot. Would not stay again - akin to a motel 6.

We were lucky to even get a room because it was UCSB orientation and most hotels were booked, We stayed at our local one because our home was being tented for termites. The rooms were clean but old. The mattress was quite comfortable. The mini-fridge was nice to have and worked out well. There were no USB/Type C/etc. outlets, only old dial-up ones. The A/C worked very well, which was appreciated since it was 90+ degrees outside. There were no coffee makers inside the room; you had to go to the lobby and use one there. The pet fee was only $25 per night, which we thought was quite reasonable. TV service was basic. It is a no-frills hotel and does not have a pool.

For a very reasonable price, I was able to enjoy staying at the Rose Garden Inn. It wasn't right at the waterfront, but the drive there and other places we wanted to go was so pleasant that staying on Upper State St made it a plus, and half the cost of rooms further downtown. The parking was free and after going out for the day, we always had a parking place when we returned! The management was very helpful and kind. We stayed upstairs and it was quiet. We heard some of our neighbors enjoy watching the World Cup soccer that was going on, but they called it a day well before 9pm and we slept well. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the shower had good water pressure! We will be back!

Location was great! The hotel room was clean but overall, not very well maintained. The refrigerator in our room was not working. When I complained about it, the front desk said they would fix it but they never came. At least thy gave us a discount for it. The place was not very quiet, you could constantly hear the neighbors, door shutting and other noises. Poor customer service, the front desk people ( I believe it's a family) were not the most welcoming and communicative people.
