I was greeted like a friend and given a nice quiet room. It's a simple place, but I felt safe.

Best value on CA-101. Clean, comfortable rooms with all the expected amenities for less places in larger towns.

It is clearly an older property. But the rooms were clean, the beds were very comfortable, even though it is right off 101 it was quiet, the bathrooms are stocked with very nice towels, unlike what you usually find in less expensive motels. The showers were warm and had good water flow but could use an upgrade (but they were clean). I stayed for three mights while on a hunting trip and will stay there again. San Miguel is pretty much a wide spot on highway 101 just north of Paso Robles. Our double room was well under $100/night. Since we were out all day the lack of amenities like a pool or breakfast.

Not too bad

Good for the price:) the staff was very friendly and quick to help even though we checked in late. It was clean and good for a quick stop. It’s a motel with not the best beds but I don’t regret staying there, I didn’t ever feel unsafe. It was quiet and the ac works.

You get what you pay for

It is a motel. It could stand to be deep cleaned and updated but from the looks of the outside they're getting there. The workers are extremely friendly and I never once felt unsafe. I would stay here again if ever I needed to.

Over many years, I have stayed in many hotels and houses. I own rental homes on the island of Kauai for the past 36 years. Our stay at the Western States inn was wonderful, the room was very clean with all items and facilities in good working order upon arrival and throughout our stay to departure. It was hot during our time in San Miguel, night and day, the air conditioning was great and ran well. The Manager, Prietes, was very attentive and pleasant, he checked in with us daily to make sure our stay was going well and if we had a comfortable room. He gave us great advice on where to go in the area for our needs, as well as, where to dine, his recommendations were spot on, he made our trip to San Miguel and choosing to stay at the Western States Inn not just a wonderful choice but an Outstanding memorable one. We look forward and will return. Sincerely, Ian S.

It's a very expensive area to stay in. Most places cost way too much, so if you need a more affordable option while you are in the area, stay here. It's not much to look at, but the bed was comfortable enough.

other than it felt like a Heat Sink in the center of room 28, that the air conditioner could not keep up with, it was a good stay. My late wife and I would regularly stay when needing to just get away, and I will continue to do so

The location is clean but there is a reason they don’t show what the rooms look like. The rooms are clean but everything is very dated and looks like something out of a horror movie. If you can get past that then it is worth the price.
