I cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay at the Observatory Lodge and Glamping. The dome was so unique with beautiful views but they were clean, furnished beautifully and the amenities were modern. It is truly a family business and the property is clearly cared for with love. Eric and his wife were so kind, treated us like family and made the best breakfast. My daughters said "the best waffles they've ever had." It is a very short drive to Poas Volcano and the property had a beautiful hiking trail on it. We will 100% stay here again if in the area!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Max & Eric were very helpful with information about the area. We loved the Sloth room. Breakfast was nice!
The staff were so friendly. The room was adorable however, it was freezing and we had to rent a heater which should have been included and breakfast was not included.
We liked the glamping experience for our daughters…convenient location very close to the Poas volcano …the beds could have some better quality blankets…
This was a fun stay, adventurous and nice view. No heating but the blankets provided were more than sufficient at night. Very clean and roomy enough for 3 people.
It’s a unique stay for sure, and pretty comfortable for a geodome room. It was a little cold at night (external heater extra, only helps a little). Views are good but not great. The food and service are very good. Nice friendly couple to run the place. I would say it should cost $75, not $100.

A great night!
This was a great position near Poás Volcano. Max was very communicative and helpful, and we had a lovely nights sleep listening to the rain on the canvas. Make no mistake - these are glamping pods, and definitely still feels on the camping side (vs some “glamping” lodges out there which are more hotel like). But if you go in with those expectations, then you’ll have a lovely stay! Lots of strawberry farms and coffee tours nearby as well.
Very nice design surrounded by nature. The night was very cold and there was no heating. They charge for the heater extra and for the breakfast as well.
The property has a beautiful, romantic view. The bed was very comfortable and warm, arguably one of the most comfortable beds we slept in during our 9 days of hotels in Costa Rica. It was a little difficult to see through the windows when they were wet, there was a bit of road noise and a cow that mooed in the middle of the night which startled us awake. We did have to unlock the gate when we left early next morning, which took some doing. The morning was chilly (in October). Other than that, it was a really cool place to stay with a nice ambiance and rustic feel. The owners were very responsive when we asked a question. Would stay here again.
I'm not much of a "glamper" so I really shouldn't have booked this place but I thought it would be interesting for a night. The good: unique, close to Poas volcano, beautiful surroundings, comfortable for being a tent, it's obvious that the owner is really trying to make this a nice comfortable place, service was good, heater was provided for a small fee. The "not so great": entrance is hard to find going towards Poas (going the other direction you can see the domes), road going up is steep and going up in the rain in a regular car was tricky, beds weren't very comfortable. The bad: the water in the shower was either ice cold or scalding hot and could not be regulated. The temperature would switch between the two and I could literally count for 4 seconds during those times that the water was usable. I could tolerate and even enjoy the rustic nature of the tent except for the shower situation, and that is the reason for my low rating.
This place was a little gem! The owners are so kind, the location was gorgeous! Very hippy, nature vibe. Beautiful hiking trail on the property. Good location to the Poas volcano and town.
Staff met you at the front, Spanish-speaking only but super nice. The room was fantastic when we stayed. It was a little bit colder so there was a space heater. There’s a menu in the room for options for meals. We didn’t partake in any of this, but it was great to know that we had a food available if needed. The only downside was the lack of hot water in the shower. We only stayed for one night so it really didn’t bother us that much but if we were saying multiple nights that would’ve been an issue.
