Older rooms comfortable but shower had nowhere to put soap or anything else. Otherwise good service, nice breakfast. Not too far from a nice mall and supermarket. Staff very nice and helpful.

Great Staff - Needs a little TLC!

Everyone on the staff was super nice and friendly. The hotel is outdated and on a scale of 1 to 10 cleanliness is about a 5. They did have a good breakfast that was included. However is you get a room in the front of the hotel, you can expect it to be loud.

Value Stay

We booked a room at the last minute and got a very low rate for our room. The staff was very helpful and responsive. The experience felt like it was a place in need of a renovation, but it was serviceable and clean enough. After exploring the city and looking at comparable places to stay for reference, it was worth every penny. It is not the Ritz, but it has the essentials.

Rooms are dated, bathroom not clean, walls full of stains. I even found some dry and old contact lenses in the nightstand. Bed is definitely not comfortable. Coffee was good and the location is convenient. Will never stay there again.

The room was very dirty upon arrival. There foot marks all over the bathroom floors. There are also dirty marks on the wall as well. The sink doesn’t drain properly, you have to keep lifting up the plug to drain the water. What I like about the place is the garden.

I stayed here for four nights & would sum up my stay as ‘barely adequate’. It is extremely loud, due to nearby bars, traffic, and flocks of noisy birds, making sleeping difficult. The mattress felt like sleeping on a sack of cement & the breakfast was basic. Finally, the staff was not friendly or particularly helpful. When I asked for an iron, the receptionist gave me one that was obviously broken. Stay elsewhere.

Rooms were only cleaned very superficially, if at all. Surfaces in the bathroom were obviously not wiped down from previous guest. The second room I had was overall nicer and acceptable from a cleanliness perspective. Ancient towels that urgently need replacing. The place itself is beautiful, too bad that there isn't more effort put into it. The staff are generally nice and I appreciated them feeding some local cats. Breakfast is extremely limited and was just about enough for me as a woman, all my male co-travellers left hungry.

This hotel is really charming with a nice arquitectural style and cozy rooms. In comparison to other hotels I stayed at in San José this place takes the cake mainly because of the owners. A husband a wife who are incredibly caring kind warm and gave me great advice on food for dinner and breakfast while I stayed. Not only that but they were incredibly understanding about my flight being later the day of my check out and said it wasn't a problem at all. Unfortunately on Expedia some of the information is incorrect due to the new ownership but honestly it didn't bother me at all because of how kind and friendly the owners are. It is a husband and wife that work really hard to take care of the place and meet the needs of their guests. Truly it felt like a home away from home and was a really incredible place to stay while I transitioned into going back to the U.S. I definitely want to stay here again when I come back to San José in the future. Quiet clean amazing service beautiful architecture nice rooms bathrooms etc. I could not recommend it enough!

The hot breakfast was very cold and not nice. The location was 10-15 minute walk to the town centre. The breakfast could be more generous and fresher. It would have been nice if there is enough juice for everyone, not just water. The bathroom could have been supplied with bath mat and hand towel. The garden and the plants would be nicer if maintained regularly. There are litter in them and the path to the rooms could have been swept.

For a one night cheaper stay in San Jose, it is a nice enough hotel. The location is good, next door to a Starbucks (for the real stuff you have to go to a plantation), there is a grocery store (Auto Mercado), and a few restaurants, all within walking distance.
