It’s a fairly cheap place; it’s right on the beach; and it’s just a few minutes off the pan-American highway. If you are traveling through and need a cheap convenient place to rest your head, this is it. The staff is kind and genuinely want to help you. Breakfast (patacones, fried Panamanian tortilla, eggs, sliced cheese) was included in my room rate - it was surprisingly decent.
That said, you get what you pay for so don’t expect anything fancy. The property is old and quite dated. The grounds are not maintained very well. The rooms are basic but have AC and wifi (I couldn’t connect to the WiFi in my room but I was too lazy to go ask at the front desk about it since I was only staying one night). The beach had a heavy shore break at high tide so be mindful with little ones. Impressively, the tide swing here is the largest I’ve ever seen. At high tide, the waves literally crash against the hotel building and at low tide, the tide recedes so far so can barely see it from the hotel.
While I wasn’t impressed with the property, I felt grateful to have had a place to rest my head on my long drive back toward the city after a week of solotrekking through the jungles and beaches of Panama. The hardworking staff do their best with the facilities and amenities available to them. As a single guy, I felt fine enough. If you are a girl traveling solo, I recommend you pay a little extra and stay somewhere more standard.
