Wonderful hotel in an outstanding location. Despite being in the center of things, our room was a quiet and comfortable retreat. Furnishings were plush and comfortable. Can’t wait to return!

Mine is clearly a minority view. The friends I'm traveling with were very satisfied with their room and many people call this their favorite hotel in the world. I tried to catalogue what was wrong with my experience and ran out of Characters; so let me just telegraph it--1) arrived at 3pm; thirty minute wait to "find" me a clean room. 2) Room was still being cleaned when I was brought to it. 3) Room crammed with furniture dying to be tripped over. I moved some against the walls after a few bruised shins. 4) Room was hot and stuffy, but housekeeping thoughtfully turned the air conditioning off during "turndown" and raised the thermostat as high as it would go. It took two hours to make the room bearable again. 5) Internet didn't work. Problem could only be solved by checking me out and then back in. 6) Bar lady rude. 7) Breakfast either 49E for a tired buffet or 30E for "continental." For 30E I got one cup of coffee (I was charged for the 2nd one), a useless (to me) plate of ham and cheese, and a stale roll and tasteless croissant. I'm sure this all sounds petty, but this is a "luxury" hotel charging $750/night. You kind of expect better. My favorite hotel in the world is the Sacher in Vienna. Not ostentatious, not fancy, just utterly impeccable in every way. I never think about the money at the Sacher; at this place that was all I could think about.

The service was excellent! From front desk, bell hops, room service attendants and even the person who oversees the breakfast hours are all incredibly superb. The room was clean and well thought out. The only thing I can think of is you may need to request a roll away if you have a party of three and staying in the junior suite. I mistakenly thought there was a pull out sofa but the bed was big enough for us family of 3. We also had our breakfast included during our stay and it was delish! The hotel is close to everything. I was sad to leave because we were treated so kindly and they really went above and beyond. Thank you Hotel GH team for making us feel so welcome!! A across the board.

We loved this hotel so much. Beautifully appointed rooms. Amazing restaurant. Close to everything. It will definitely be our hotel of choice in Salzburg. I wish we could have stayed longer.

We did have some bath issues but they were all fixed immediately. The room was furnished with period furniture. But the bath was state of the art. . Lots of wood and Austrian red marble in the room.

The hotel is a small property that is very uderstated and elegant. It is very Austrian and the staff bends over backwards to accommodate you. We were quite happy to stay there and will certainly return.

This is a premier hotel and a must stay in Salzburg. The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. The price range is not for everyone but it reflects the high quality of the hotel. Easy walk to many sights and attractions in Salzburg.

I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Salzburg

I have stayed at the Goldener Hirsch for the past 30 years The hotel and its staff never fail. Charming and comfortable, it is located in the midst of an active tourist area but absolutely quiet inside and completely safe outside. The staff listen carefully and exceed every request. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Salzburg.

Absolutely exceptional stay at the Goldener Hirsch. Our room was beautiful, we received a complimentary upgrade and fresh fruit bowl, there was turn down service each night with chocolates and bottled water. The linens were divine. Every possible thoughtful touch was attended to within the room and the service provided. I think it spoiled us for every other hotel we will ever stay in!

Ekstremt flott og tradisjonelt hotell

Vi bodde på hotellet i 3 dager julen 2022. Ekstremt flott og tradisjonelt hotell med en fantastisk beliggenhet i gamlebyen der alt skjer. Varmt og serviceinnstilt personale. Rommet var tradisjonelt innredet, men likevel moderne med alle fasiliteter og en høy kvalitetsmessig standard. De klargjør rommet for kvelden og rydder/vasker når de «vet» at du er ute. Alt i alt en flott opplevelse. Vi kommer tilbake :)

The staff was amazing! The overall property was very nice! My only complaint was that we were in a small room across the main building and we were on the top floor. The windows were very small and below eye level. Otherwise, everything was on point!
