The manager was very helpful as I booked the room online and we have bicycles, equipment, food bins, etc. He helped us check out other possibilities for our stay & we had success! Nice view, close to downtown too. The units are very basic, mostly clean and safe.

The room was nice, in one of the two houses at the facility instead of the motel proper. It has a mini fridge, sink and 2 beds. Beds were ok for comfort. Had a bit of an old house smell. The area doesn't have much, and is in a neighborhood with a bit of urban decay. The owner was lovely, taking interest in what we doing in town and checking in with us whenever we saw him.

Noisy vulgar guests, bed was suoer comfy. Room was not the cleanest, stained sheets, bathroom needed a good bleaching. Owner was very nice, and his puppy was a sweetie!

Owner was extremely accommodating and understanding with our late check in. He upgraded our room to make our room easier to find if he was unavailable when we arrived. Location was very convenient to catch the ferry to Digby. The room suited our needs- close to the ferry for early departure the following morning.

I am disabled but didn't ask for special considerations except no stairs and was given a drive-up room which I appreciated. However, I was not asked if I wanted smoking or non and was given a room in the smoking area of the property. After the clerk/manager(?) showed me where to park, he asked me soon after to move my vehicle b/c they were taking pictures. About 20 minutes later he asked me to move my car back to the original spot b/c he had given me someone else's spot! I walk with a cane so the inconvenience was ridiculous. I had to take a cab the next morning to my appointments and asked to leave my car there during that time which he agreed to, then he berated me because I was parked too close to the line and that they couldn't use that spot. I wasn't on the line, mind you, just too close to it. He BERATED me. Extremely unprofessional and certainly not the way to get clients to return.

It was advertised and a quaint little roadside inn, but when we got there it was dilapidated and unkempt. Looked more like a hostel type establishment. The owner was nice but we only stayed one night because it was sketchy and I didn’t feel safe.

While the manager was friendly, the room was pathetic. Not only very small, but in serious need of a major overhaul. From doors to shower stall to window and curtains, toilet, walls, and more, the room we were in, #7, should not be rented out in its current condition.

The room we were given reeked of cat urine and there was a hornet’s nest right by the door - my husband was stung. We asked for another room, we’re given one, but for a “renovated room” is was very low class.

Would be nice if there’s a screen at the door coz lots of mosquitoes and flies, u have to get in very quickly. At night time & morning No hot water when we showered- water so cold (5deg C) . I have to call the office in the morning, they said be patient lots of people using it but after 5 mins we had extremely hot water. I believe they are controlling this.Wifi not working, no issue for us co we have data plan. Cleanliness 90:/:.

When we got there our room was booked to someone else so they upgraded us to a suite. The suite was an apartment down the road that was unfinished and the tub didn't even have faucets. Very disapppointed.

The motel is clean But Very outdated for the price The beddings was clean but outdated the bathtub was 1970s and yellow. The furniture was very outdated The indian owner is very nice man and his wife. But I should of paid 30$ more and got better because the motel is not worth $100 a night. I stayed in better for less then half that price. So when your booking for a room keep this in mind. I only stayed 2 nights. The room was find for 2 nights but if your a fussy person who expects nice this would not be the place for you. There was 2 bees in the room. And ants on the floor. To be polite I would not stay at that motel again. But I mentioned the owner is a really nice guy

Lokesh Kant was helpful in making us comfortable during our stay. He was informative when we asked about places of interest to visit while in the area. We enjoyed talking with him as he was very personable. We definitely would recommend Hillside Motel. It was not the Taj Mahal, but for the value price, it was worth staying there. If and when we are in St John, we would stay there again.
