A very quirky hotel with plenty of character. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast presented a good choice and the eving menu had a number of choices. Room was a little dated but to be expected in a castle. Peacocks everywhere!! Village centre is very quiet with a number of units closed. Work was taking place on the central mm aren't square so a little unkempt and inaccessible.

Rooms are a little outdated but clean, staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and plenty of it. Grounds are vast but only small portion kept tidy. Peacocks on grounds are friendly and you can buy food from reception to feed them. Ruthin town/village is quaint and amazing to walk. Absolutely loved staying in the castle. Would definitely visit again. I went for a wedding and found expedia to be cheapest prices and I had slightly better (bathroom was more modern and i had iron and hairdryer )than people who paid more.

The castle and its grounds are stunning and great to explore and the village right outside the gates is lovely too. The roaming peacocks were a true highlight as well! Unfortunately the room was not very clean and quite worn down, specially the bathroom. Breakfast was ok but the food at dinner was unfortunately not recommendable

Stayed 1st - 3rd of June. Absolutely amazing stay for our mini moon. The staff, the food, the room were all incredible. We can't wait to come back, so much so we have already pre booked a suite for our one year anniversary May 2027. Very relaxing stay just what we needed after a manic wedding weekend. The staff can't do enough for you, nothing is to much. We stayed in 222 unfortunately the ghostly activity didn't live up to other people reviews or maybe it just isn't haunted 😊 Old castle with great character but definitely no ghosts just the morning wake up call from the peacocks which we loved no complaints there. Thank you for a great stay and we can't wait to come back. 😊

Lovely setting - unique historical stay. Grounds were great with peacocks. Rooms were pleasant and bathrooms spacious. Hot water variable but it is an old building. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. However, the breakfast was disappointing - coffee was poor and was self-serve from a flask on the side (no other option offered eg latte, cappuccino etc), no defcaf tea available, limited choice of pastries, jams and fresh fruit. Had to ask for glasses, cutlery and plates.

It's was an experience we wanted, to stay in a castle. The Ruthin Castle has a ton of history. It's a bit run down but I guess that could be the charm. The bathroom was beautiful, the rooms (bedroom and living room) were large. Overall, the place seemed quiet and dark. There is not a lot to do in Ruthin. The staff was nice and the room was clean.

Second stay, just as enjoyable as the first. Staff are friendly, rooms are a good size though it can be a bit of a walk from reception and a little maze like. Nice location although the building itself is showing signs of its age. Spa downstairs is well equipped and there are lots of peacocks wandering around the grounds. Area is very nice, close to Snowdon, not too far from Chester or the coast.
