An historic hotel in a beautiful part of New Zealand. Clean, comfortable room. Did it eat evening meals in dining room, exceedingly noisy group and dishes expensive and focused too much on seafood. Very good location though, on harbour front and very easy walking distance to tourist attractions and reasonable cafes.

Views and aspect with water right n front was great. Room very spacious. The bathroom extractor fan not working maybe for some time as small patch of mould on wall by ceiling. Ambience and heritage aspect was excellent. Food very good rather unfortunate incident where there was a piece of broken ceramic in the tempura batter on eggplant which otherwise was delicious. Staff responded well and must apologitic. Overall 4/5. Would stay again

We stayed in the one of the rooms facing the bay with a balcony. The view was wonderful - morning coffee on the balcony was special. The room itself was spotless and well appointed for our stay - a couple. Our interactions with staff were always professional and friendly. We also enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the deck as well as breakfast on one morning. We would certainly recommend staying at this location.
