Jan and his colleagues were all helpful, friendly and enthusiastic throughout. Room was absolutely spotless, well appointed and comfortable. Food was exceptional, can’t speak highly enough about the evening meal we had it was absolutely delicious and breakfast in the morning was tasty too, super fresh pastries! “A 3-star hotel / bed-and-breakfast - very personal, friendly service. The hotel is visited daily by locals buying newspapers. All meals cooked to order, including breakfast - a nice change to the usual experience in hotels nowadays. We turned up at about 4.30pm to find opening time was 5pm - we must have missed this in the instructions. The hotel was open promptly at 5 pm however. On the Sunday the bar closed at 5pm so dinner had to be elsewhere - not a problem for us as we always tend to have...

“Set in a lovely building and village with beautiful views. Really recommend. Rooms a little bit tired but did not ruin our stay as it was a great base. Mexican restaurant, bar and outside space was lovely. There is a local shop and some pubs within walking distance in the village too. Close to Yeovil etc. Would definitely stay again. Thank you”

“Staff were generally friendly. The room was very dated - it looked tired and rather grubby. We were alarmed to see extension cables and exposed electrical wiring. The bed clothes were old & not inviting. There was no enclosed shower. The bathroom looked to be from the 70’s/80’s. The TV in the room had an alarm feature which unbeknown to us had been programmed to go off at 5.30am and 7.30 am - this was not appreciated! The cooled breakfast was good.”

“We stayed for 2 nights in the family room which had a lovely comfortable king size bed, ensuite with large walk in shower and air con which was a God send. Very clean and quiet. The staff are lovely, food and drinks reasonably priced, breakfast choices good. The beer garden needs some attention but is secure if you have children or a dog. Steep stairs to the rooms which were a bit difficult with our elderly dog but over all a great stay. Please note, although very dog friendly they do charge...

“The room was far too hot. There was a thick winter 13 tog duvet on our bed ( and it was June weather) my husband asked for a blanket and sheet so the cleaner took away duvet but only left a sheet no blanket, so we were then cold on our second night and had to put our light raincoats on ourselves to keep warm:( The bed was far too small with it being a small double. Suggest you get smaller bedsize cabinets thsn the chunky ones and invest in a wider king-size bed for comfort for guests!”

“This is not a Premier inn, but had character and I slept really well even though the pub faced an A road. My room had been fairly recently decorated I'd say. There was a little kettle in the room, with tea bags and coffee. Small TV , and ensuite toilet and shower. A lovely breakfast was included in the price, which was very reasonable. Nice owner. Close to the Bath & Wsst Showground.”
