Lakeside peace and tranquility

A great little motel, away from noise and the bustle of the township. Great views from the deck, of Lake Rotorua. Plenty of parking for a boat.

The room itself was tidy and reasonably priced, so no complaints there. However, the experience outside the room was disappointing. The staff were extremely rude and unaccommodating from the start, making us feel unwelcome. The location initially seemed beautiful, but closer inspection of the lake revealed contamination along the shore and what appeared to be a sewage line flowing into it. We also tried to use the private spa pool, but it was in poor condition—spider webs on the door and ceiling, a strong chemical odor, and visible lines along the pool edges that looked like dirt or bacterial growth—so we opted not to use it. Overall, while the room was fine, the surrounding amenities and staff behavior were well below expectations.

Stressful Stay

The receptionist threatened us to leave our credit card with him as security. Then he forced us to clean the room before check out to avoid penalty. We were all anxious at bed time worrying about how much penalty we would have to pay. Holiday turned to nightmare.

Cedarwood Lakeside is just that,lakeside. It is a few minutes drive from town and being at the end of the road is quiet and private.It has a lovely view of the lake and is on the foreshore. There is a nice pool and kayaks are available.The units are spotless and have everything you need. We have stayed in Rotorua many many times and this was our best experience by far.

Great location right on the lake. Owners could not be more pleasant or helpful. Rooms very quiet and clean with updated bathrooms. The pool, outside seating area is in great need of renovation. Pool needs to be resurfaced and fencing older. Pool water was sparkling and warm. I felt for the cost it was a great place to stay.
