We were an off season last minute booking for two nights. The location couldn’t be more perfect. The staff was friendly and informative. The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our time in Rothenberg and our stay at the Goldener Hirsch.

Perfect location with best view outside front door. I’m even though inside old city, there was parking for rental car. Staff was excellent accommodating our check-in and request for a corner room. Excellent breakfast and beautiful lobby to relax.

Nice hotel. We had an issue which they cleared up quickly. Breakfast was wonderful. There is a games room with pool and air hockey tables for free. Large sitting room upstairs where groups could sit and talk comfortably. Excellent location. Would stay again!

The good: Breakfast was fantastic as was the location, right in the center of town. It was so quiet it was almost eerie. Parking was perfect and, although11 Euros daily, very reasonable compared to city parking in Germany. The bad: Significant amount of deferred maintenance in the rooms. Lots of hair and dirt and smell of urine in bathrooms from poor cleaning. Pillows and mattresses terrible, difficult to sleep. Overall average for Germany, I guess.
no shower curtain, broken (dangerously sharp) soap dish, urine smell from uncleaned areas beside toilet.

Clean room, friendly staff and good breakfast. Hotel is quite old and some amenities did not work properly or were broken (bathtub, elevator). Otherwise very good stay and very conveniently located in the heart of Rothenburg with their own parking located in the next street. It is a 5 minute walk to the market square and hotel located right at the Plönlein. We enjoyed our Rothenburg experience a lot and will come again!

We have stayed at this location during the Imperial City Days celebration. We love the connivence of being close to the shops and activities. Plus we are far enough from the Marktplatz that we are not disturbed by all the noise or blocked due to events. They have a typical breakfast with meats, cheese, breads and cake. It is cozy and I will return to the same location when I’m in the area.

Best hotel in Rothenburg

The hotel is extremely beautiful with a nice view to the valley and right in the center of the old town. The hotel team is very kind. Rooms are comfortable, beautiful and make you feel you're in a movie. Breakfast is very delicous too with fresh food. I stayed there with my wife for out 15th anniversary and they even decorated the room romatically - depite me requesting it last minute. I really appreciated that.

Room was great. Breakfast was excellent! Lady at the desk in the evening that checked us in was very helpful. Lady in the morning that checked us out was not friendly at all. I’m pretty sure she yelled at me when I asked why we were charged €98 on top of our room charge. We needed a five-bed room. None was available on Expedia before we traveled so we reserved two rooms with four beds. When we arrived, we were given our keys, found out one of the rooms had five beds in it. The hotel was kind enough to refund us the cost for the unnecessary second room. However the next morning we were charged €98 for having an extra bed in our room! Seemed like a deceitful way to make an extra euro…

This property was a dream!!!! You step out of the front door and into a medieval town. The parlor rooms were beautiful to sit in at night and talk about all your favorite sites of the day. The staff were great! We met Helga and she was a doll!!! The property is walking distance to all the sights. I highly recommend and would definitely revisit!
