We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, the room was extremely large, bathroom extremely small and dated. Amazing view from the bedroom we sat and enjoyed the view when the weather was rather unpredictable Good parking Food good standard, restaurant lacked character and atmosphere but the staff were excellent very friendly

We really enjoyed our stay at The Royal. The staff were really helpful and efficient. The food was excellent and really good value for money. We ate here for two nights as it was very good. The rooms were clean and we had a lovely view of the river and the shops were close by so a nice location. You could park so everything worked well. Thankyou to everyone who works here for a very nice break. We appreciated our time there.

My family stayed in 2 superior rooms for one night. There is no lift so luggage has to be carried up the stairs. Room 14 was on the first floor and huge, room 30 was on the second floor and slightly smaller. The shower was over the bathtub with a curtain. The staff in the restaurant and elsewhere were excellent and we enjoyed the food (bearing in mind this is a Greene King, not a Michelin starred restaurant :). There are lovely views from the patio where you can have a drink from the bar. For the price, we were very happy with our stay and would certainly recommend the hotel to others.

Beautiful view from our bedroom, but the decor of the room left a lot to be desired. The mattress was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever had the misfortune to try to sleep on and the pillows were not much better. The hotel is well located for visiting the town.
