While the hotel is well appointed, clean and the staff very attentive, the neighborhood and the check-in policy are what drag the property down. If you are looking for an airport hotel, stay at the Hyatt.

We thought we were booking a hotel, not a guest house. There was a continental breakfast included, which was nice and it was in good proximity to the airport. Staff was very friendly, just not what we were expecting. Great for somewhere to stay before you head to the airport.

Our stay at La Lira was wonderful. The young gentleman who assisted us was exceptionally kind and helpful. He waited for us even after check-in hours, explained everything clearly, helped us arrange our taxi for next day flight, and made us feel truly welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was extremely clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. I wish we could have stayed longer. We highly recommend this hotel.

Our stay was unplanned (late booking after night arrival in Rome due to cancelled flight to USA rerouted from Munich . . . departing next day. . . also first time in Italy with no research on what to expect.) Exterior lighting at the establishment is quite limited and only a small sign identifies it. Nearing midnight, we feared the taxi had delivered us to the wrong address; then a quiet voice through an opening in the adjoining stone wall greeted us with instructions to the 2nd floor. Once checked-in, she patiently answered our questions, anticipated need/time for morning shuttle, and informed us she'd turned on air conditioner in our room as soon as the booking came in. . . excellent friendly service at an ungodly hour. Three in our party, we slept well. Early breakfast was basic but good . . many choices of yogurt and pastries . . . and the shuttle driver was on-time waiting when we got to the street.

We stayed for a single night before our flight home. The staff was very friendly and it looked like the rooms had been recently updated. The rooms were clean and the shower was large. We had trouble finding the shuttle to the hotel, and took a taxi instead. We did take the shuttle from the hotel to the airport and everything went smoothly. We enjoyed our stay.

Great, modern facility. Room was a little small but very clean. The only negative was the surrounding area. We felt the area might be a little shady at night. Although we didn’t actually observe anything. We went to the local restaurant across the river and had a wonderful dinner. The people sitting next to us were also from the US. They told us they weren’t crazy about the area either. Maybe it’s just a tourist thing. If you moved the room closer to Rome, it would be a 5 star.
