We were in the area for a celebration of life, and didn’t want to drive back home, found this hidden gem. Quiet area, clean room, bed was soft, but still comfy. Kind of a throw back feel to the room. Perfect for a quick overnight stay and reasonably priced
Rockwell Commons is a step back into a simpler time and quieter place. It is a delightfully updated roadside inn from the 1950s. A simple but tasteful room and a stylish bathroom make this a place for rest and refreshment. TV, microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator add to the comfort.
All small towns used to have a locally built, and owned motels. With interstate highways and franchise motels these have become a rarity. Here is a refurbished local motel with door locks that are activated by entering a code sent on your phone or computer. The rooms are clean, have been repainted and the bathrooms are clean.
Room was very clean. It's an older place but well maintained and looked after. Room was very chilly- 60 when we checked in but warmed up fairly quickly. No hooks anywhere to hang our suit/dress clothes. Bed was comfortable. Everything was done online- are given a code for the room lock much like an Airbnb so never saw a real person. Did take some time for any questions/communication- again done through email. Couldn't figure out how to operate the TV- two remotes and nothing seemed to happen except turn on/off. Never connected with any channels. And again, no living person to go to/call with a question.
Second time we stayed there and the place is still great. Last time we needed extra sheets and blanket and they happily provided. Couldn’t ask for better service!
This was as advertised - a private room with a bathroom. Everything was clean. It was on the main drag but this is Rockwell City, Iowa, so the fact that it was quiet isn’t surprising. There is a Mexican restaurant one block away but it is closed Sundays. Not much else walkable but it's a small town and this is several blocks from the small downtown, which may have some shopping options.
