The Avon Inn was a wonderful choice for our long weekend, especially for anyone who appreciates the character of a historic property dating back to 1820. My wife attended the Rochester Eggsperience (pysanky) retreat, and the inn provided a clean, quiet, and convenient home base. The staff was friendly, prompt and responsive, and the room was well-equipped with Wi-Fi, a small refrigerator, and even an adjustable bed. Having an on-site restaurant for dinner was a great perk. A couple of practical details for future guests. First, the main lobby and restaurant close later in the evening (although a contact number is provided for overnight needs). Second, all guest rooms are located on the second floor with no elevator access, which is worth keeping in mind for those with mobility concerns.

We were at the Avon Inn for a very brief overnight stay, motivated by history behind the institution. As the sole remaining hotel from Avon's history as a destination for its springs, it is still the center of a lovely small town. Service was friendly and efficient and we would have been glad to spend another day or two there.

Jennifer, the owner, couldn't be more helpful and friendly! When I made the reservation through Expedia and decided to change the room I wanted, I didn't notice the dates had changed from the dates I had put in originally. While Expedia couldn't help, Jennifer made the change no questions. The room and the entire Inn were charming and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again. One caveat--there are no elevators and the stairs can be difficult to manage if you have any kind of movement challenges. However, there is a stair lift to use. And, again, the amazing Jennifer lugged our bags up for us, so that problem was solved!

We were excited to visit the Avon Inn and it exceeded our expectations. It is a delightful hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. Our room was big, with a comfortable bed and in room gas fireplace. The co-owner Jen was lovely to speak to and the history of the hotel is fascinating. Special shoutout to the awesome pool table in the lobby - it is an awesome statement piece and a great use of the space to socialize being right next to the restaurant. We did not get to try the restaurant but the menu looked great. Nearby walking was also very nice because the surrounding homes are beautiful and historic themselves. We will definitely be back.

My recent hotel stay was a complete disaster and the worst I've ever experienced. It all started when I arrived to a completely deserted lobby and had to find an employee in the kitchen just to get checked in. Even though my room was ready, I was forced to wait for someone who knew how to use the computer. The check-in was finally done by a new employee who was being told what to do over the phone by a manager who wasn't even there. I was then told the free breakfast started at 8 AM, which was useless since I had to leave by 7 AM. Things got even worse when I got to my room. It was right above the kitchen and had a strong, awful smell of food. The room was also disgustingly dirty. In a dresser drawer, I found a previous guest's used UNDERWEAR, pantyhose, and a SANITARY PAD. Later that evening, the noise from the kitchen was unbearable, with LOUD BANGING, yelling, and vibrations that shook the whole bed. The last straw was finding a long black hair stuck to the shower wall. I was so grossed out by everything that I slept in my clothes with headphones on. I had to write this review to warn everyone away from this place!

This is a lovely old inn in a small town. Lots of charm and interesting décor with wonderful, helpful staff. We also ate at the restaurant twice – one great meal and one ok. But very nice ambience. Keep in mind that this is not some cookie cutter chain hotel. Note about the area, there are several restaurants/bars within walking distance. But not on a Sunday!
