This is a nice and affordable property located in a safe area. You'll find great food nearby, and it's close to shopping centers and numerous restaurants. It's just a fifteen-minute taxi ride to Ipanema, so you definitely get your money's worth. While it may not be a five-star hotel, it is quite decent and situated in a quiet neighborhood.

We had an excellent stay at the ibis Botafogo. Staff are really friendly, the area is trendy and full of places to eat and culture nearby. The room was basic but has everything you need. Highly recommended and great value for money

POSITIVES Staff are kind and attentive, safe location, comfortable room. NEGATIVES Weird parking situation where you leave your keys with the attendant who then leaves them on top of your car, essentially so anyone can wander into the garage and drive off with your car or go into your car as they do not check who is driving what

Was surprised the staff wasn’t bilingual! To work in the Hospitality Business the front desk team specifically should be able to speak English or Spanish! It’s very inconvenient not to be able to communicate or ask for information.

First room handed to us was on the 7th floor; mold smell was away too strong we had to ask to change rooms. Staff was nice and found us another room on the 5th floor… Second room was “all right”… I mean, we were only there for a night, so I guess it’s ok. But to be honest, over $150/night we expected to have at least a bottle of water in the room… painting around the room is spotty, bad lighting, furniture was jacked up, mattress was as thin as it can be, no face or hand towels… Location is good and you have easy access to anything you might need walk distance… but the hotel itself sucks. Their price rely solo on their location. We would not recommend or go back to it.

Good location, and that's all The location is good, just across the subway stations and close to local commerce. However, the rooms are right and uncomfortable. The phone was not working, even after changing the room. I had to request a safe, not included. Bed was a rock. And the worst: no air circulation at all. After showering, the bedroom was horribly humid (like if there was a water leak in the bedrrom) as the bathroom had no working vent or window. Customer service at the reception consistently denied basic services (use landlines phone, exchanging bills, printing docs etc). Definitely not worth the money paid - more money than a Mercury's in São Paulo, for a much, much worse bedroom and service.
