Good location - close to Lapa, Gloria and Cinelândia. You can walk to Flamengo beach and Gloria Marina for a boat ride. The rooms are basic but comfortable and the shower is hot with excellent water pressure. The breakfast is good.

The room was very colorful, but it was very comfortable. the lights and different settings were very cool. very modern . The staff was very nice and professional, especially Leo. For a foreigner is very difficult to adapt to Brazil, everything felt different to me, but he explained to me everything and was very patient.

I booked Hotel Villa Rica because the rate was reasonable for my stay in Rio. Based on the listing, I wasn’t expecting a luxury hotel, but I was disappointed by the overall condition of the property. The first room I was assigned was spacious, but the bathroom—particularly the shower—did not appear to be thoroughly cleaned, and the furniture was extremely dated and heavily worn. The bed consisted of what felt like a thin mattress topper on a platform and was very uncomfortable. After speaking with the front desk, the staff kindly allowed me to inspect and choose another available room, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the second room had many of the same issues. Although the bed was an actual mattress, it was exceptionally firm and uncomfortable. The furnishings were again heavily worn, the window would not remain closed, and there was visible mold in the shower. After four nights, I decided to check out early because I simply wasn’t able to get adequate rest due to the bed. The breakfast was very good, and the front desk staff were friendly and accommodating throughout my stay. I also requested a prorated refund for the unused nights. The hotel initially responded promptly through WhatsApp and indicated a refund might be possible, but after Expedia submitted the formal request, communication stopped and the issue remains unresolved. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this property and would choose to stay elsewhere on a future visit to Rio.

The area is terrible. Very dirty, noisy, a lot of homeless people. The only good thing about this hotel is the staff and the breakfast. I wouldn't recommend it for solo female travelers, especially first time in Brazil. I was so shocked and scared to leave my room.

O hotel é bem bonzinho, parece velho mas tá reformado, com decoração e iluminação bonitas! O café da manhã é ótimo, melhor que de hotéis mais caros na região. Uma ótima foi que eles se dispuseram a servir o café a partir de 5:30, excelente pra quem pega vôo cedo ou até volta tarde da noitada. Estacionamos em frente ao hotel tranquilamente. O local é no miolo da Lapa, eu adoro, mas de madrugada tem que ficar atento, só não ficar perambulando. Do lado da escadaria Selaron, restaurantes, bares e o beco do Rato com o melhor samba do Rio na esquina!

Minha experiência nesse hotel foi horrível. Não chegamos a nos hospedar lá. Ao chegarmos no local, tivemos uma surpresa bastante desagradável. A recepcionista disse que por problemas de infiltrações não poderíamos ficar lá e nos mandou para um outro lugar, que segundo ela, era do mesmo dono, mas era uma espelunca, Parque Hotel, lugar horrível. Quando chegamos lá, outro estresse pois eles não estavam nos esperando, a recepcionista bem grossa disse que essa mulher não podia ficar mandando as pessoas pra lá porque lá já tava lotado. Eu só disse que era pra ela resolver pq eu já tinha pago. Então ea arrumou um quarto pra nós. Não conseguimos dormir a noite com tanto barulho. Café da manhã com quase nada, só o básico mesmo, café, pão, ovo, queijo, o elevador daqueles pré históricos que sacudia todo e a gente via lá embaixo porque tinha um espaço entre o elevador e o piso. Não foi por isso que eu paguei. Me senti lesada. Foi uma experiência estressante.

O quarto estava limpo, ar condicionado funcionando super bem. Um leve cheiro de humidade mas nada que cause incômodo. Cama confortável. Café da manhã delicioso e bem servido, atendentes muito atenciosos, especialmente Mateus que é super competente, carismático e solícito. Uber chega rápido no local e delivery também. Não aproveitamos as imediações pois foi viagem para tratamento de saúde, mas a região é central e boa para turismo. Recomendamos.
