We were visiting our son who lived a 5 min drive away.
It was really only somewhere for us to sleep wash and have breakfast. The hotel was ideal for us. People were very friendly and breakfast was lovely.

Smallish room but very comfortable bed, nice friendly staff, easy to find from M4
My only criticism: restaurant menu was a bit underwhelming

the breakfast was excellent value and serving staff very good. You had to run the hot water for a full 5 mins before the hot water came through

Arrived after driving all night from Scotland for a family funeral in Reading area. Allocated rooms 3&9 the corridor had a horrible smell and the rooms looked like they required a full refurbishment. We went straight to bed as we were all shattered. The beds were clean and comfortable but the bathroom tap leaked as did the shower and was extremely noisy. Got woken up at 5am with the Fire alarm being set off, for the record this had not been logged at reception. We should have complained at the time but were too tired and straight out to attend funeral next day.

Average for a Best Western ...
A little bit 'tired' around the edges.
Comfy bed
Bathroom basin was cracked & other small details could be addressed

Having arrived and being given a non smoking room that smelt of smoke and damp I asked for another room to find it was just as bad. The hotel had been used to house asylum seekers and not refurbished before opening again. It is not fit for humans ! I checked out and found another hotel (they refused a refund)

Having to pay £15 a night for parking at your hotel ruined the whole experience for me - just another way of squeezing money out of your customers- shame as it is a nice hotel

The Staff were great. The first room i was given was not fit for rats. The second room was ok for comfort, but shower leeked and toilet at times would not stop filling up.

Building very shabby. Shower tray broken and didn't drain. No iron available. Constant smell of weed in the corridor. Breakfast was adequate but cold. On the plus side, the towels were pristine and the bed was comfortable.

All I needed was a cheap but acceptable room. The room was tired, poorly maintained. Plumbing sqeeked & oscillated, sink blocked, everything in the room worn out. View was of a room with cables everywhere. The hotel was characterised for me in the not providing any shower gel or soaps etc. Amusingly, they had left the metal holders for the bottles screwed to the wall. Presumably from the more generous previous owners. FELT WELL BELOW BEST WESTERN standard.

Stayed for 2 nights with my boyfriend as we were visiting the area. Booked the hotel last minute but thought being a best western it would be ok. Staff were friendly and helpful which was lovely. But hotel very shabby, bed was comfy but pillows and duvet were awful. Room was comfortable and clean otherwise but the bathroom left a lot to be desired, not sure if it wasn’t clean enough or just needs updating. But gave me the ick a bit. But overall was a nice stay but didn’t feel it was value for money considering the things above.

Suspicious stains on carpet (which has not been hovered either) so room changed. When closing curtain for night found blood stains on curtains in new room.
Drawer handle came off in my hand
No full length mirror
Room lighting poor
Rooms were tired, smelly and felt dirty. Also very hot despite turning heating off and weather being mild.
Bar snacks choice very limited, bar shut earlier than stated in info folder.
Breakfast- no vegetarian options except hash brown, egg and toast. Choice was limited (there were 6 of us and only 4 hash browns and 5 sausages, and not very hot. Eggs were cooked to order - asked for scrambled egg and was served a very greasy broken up omelette which the chef insisted was scrambled egg.
Such a shame as it used to be a lovely hotel

Ample parking greeted me and did not fill up too much as the afternoon progressed and I soon found out why. I had booked an apparent "Superior" room which leaves me to wonder what the standard is like. The bed was comfortable and provided a decent night's rest and the shower worked well. The bathroom's finish was very sub-standard though with a nasty plug hole that was caked in hair and grime which I ended up cleaning out myself to ensure the water went down. The flooring seemed hastily laid with parts left unfinished and a very disconcerting dip in the middle of the floor which was not their by design. I decided not to dine their on the evening and my breakfast confirmed what an astute decision that was. I am used to good Best Western buffets and can safely say this was not one of them. A very limited supply of cooked food with anemic sausages, eggs left out far too long and apple juice which was very diluted. The bacon was the only redeeming factor as it was cooked nice and crispy. Overall I maybe expected too much from a hotel in this franchise but think that Best Western need to do more quality inspection work going forward.

Hotel really nice for the price paid bar and restaurant original not over modern which was nice the room was adequate but slightly basic although comfortable. Limited dining after 9pm but that seems the norm now. Room lacked a chair but this was quickly resolved by the hotel team
