Vacations Close To Ranger Station Picnic Grounds

Great location for visiting Chimayo, but room quality varies greatly. We booked 2 rooms. Pros: Ideal Location: Perfect base for a trip to Chimayo. Atmosphere & Layout: Really pretty indoor/outdoor look and feel throughout the property. Service: The staff was friendly and welcoming. Amenities: Small but decent casino on-site for a bit of entertainment. Cons: Inconsistent Room Quality: We booked two rooms, and the experience differed significantly between floors. Downstairs Room: Clean, though dated. The main issue was a missing lock on the bathroom door. Upstairs Room: Needed substantial maintenance and deep cleaning. Heavy soil on the carpet required wearing shoes at all times. The mini-fridge was extremely noisy and damaged (exposed insulation foam), though it managed to stay cold. Most concerning was visible black mold lining the shower tub. Final Thoughts: I would likely book again for the location and friendly service, but I would strictly request a downstairs room, as those appear to be better maintained or updated.

Excellent location

Excellent location; we walked to town except in the hottest time of day. Parking at the facility was perfect. Being immediately next to a parkway for walking was fantastic. The place was very clean and well kept.

This was a resort property that had a restaurant /dining room that had awesome food and reasonable prices. It was quite convenient. The maintenance office was very responsive to a problem we had initially with the AC. Laurie (Lorrie?) was super helpful. The unit we rented (312) had an underground garage parking spot right next to the elevator. Also very convenient. The unit itself had every amenity you could want including a full Xfinity TV cable lineup. The report also has an executive golf course with very reasonable rates for vacationers to play. My only complaint (very minor) was that there was not really a separate bedroom TV. There was a monitor that you could watch whatever the person in the living room was watching...but no way to get separate channels.. Overall I highly recommend this resort to anyone who wants a comfortable resort-style experience in Santa Fe.

I think the El Rey Court is going to become my go-to lodging for Santa Fe. It’s a little bit away from the intensity of historic downtown Santa Fe, but that means more of a chill vibe. The property is big, and lovely, with interesting things sprinkled all around. The “swim club” pool, with nearby bar has a relaxed and friendly vibe. The La Reina bar offers a number of locally distilled spirits, and live music on many nights. There’s a food truck out back that sold me carnitas fries, and I think those might have been the most perfectly crispy fries I ever had. The room was clean and well appointed with toiletries. It’s not a sparkly grey and white decor that you see in a lot of hotels, but adobe inside and out, wood beam ceilings and tile floors. Very New Mexican and arty. Good coffee at Milk & Honey and breakfast at The Pantry, both a 3 minute walk.
