Skalakot Manor was a gem surrounded by stunning scenery, and the most beautiful Icelandic horses You really feel like you’re staying in someone’s home as a very special guest. The bedding was top-notch and the dining room food was fantastic. It is pricey, but very worth it. And the staff is helpful, warm and welcoming. We can’t wait to stay there next time.

Lovely guesthouse off of the Ring Road in a quiet location, with a sauna. Great staff, very welcoming and so helpful - even though there isn't an elevator, they took our big suitcases up and down to the 2nd floor in the service elevator for us, and, let us start breakfast earlier when we needed to get an early start. We didn't use the sauna but it looked great! The bathroom was fairly small. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was rather extensive and tasty.

Beautiful, charming hotel. Loved our room overlooking the horses and the sunset. The staff (Victoria and crew, including the friendly chef), were wonderful. Don’t miss the spa, it’s included and was perfect after all day driving the Golden Circle.

This property was a beautiful working horse ranch/farm. The staff was 5 star! Costas & Ms Alex took care of check in, front desk, waiters at dinner, bartenders who made delicious cocktails. They went out of their way to make my stay incredible. Ms Editaw in the morning was super pleasant with breakfast, good info about the area and property. I met her husband who is one of the fine chefs. They are putting out a quality menu at night and an excellent breakfast in the morning. The property is beautiful as were the rooms. Indoor Sauna & Hot Tub made for a great way the end each day. I would absolutely stay here again! Thanks for a great stay! ROD

My dream stay. I knew I wanted to stay here and after the first night in Reykjavik, I was hoping that it would live up to my expectations. It completely did. I know how important your accommodations can be and how they can make or break a trip. Skalakot makes the trip. My husband (who typically says he doesn’t care where we stay) completely agrees. The staff were utterly amazing from the time we stepped inside. They personally show you to your room and bring your luggage, but they never feel intimidating (iykyk). The breakfast was great (get there early) and you can order lattes and such at the bar. They made sure to make us dinner reservations after we arrived and had time to clean up from the golden circle. The dinner was well worth it and the atmosphere is incredible. I had booked us the 1 hour horseback riding tour (which my husband was very skeptical of since we don’t ride horses). He LOVED it. Said it was his favorite thing that we did the whole week. The trainer was so sweet and made the it very memorable. HUGE PLUS it is right down the road from an incredible bakery (Faxi). We went twice. It’s also just a great location to the waterfalls and Vik. I will stay here again!! Over and over!!

Highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are wonderful and the food in the restaurant is incredibly delicious. The option to go horse riding on the property is a great addition and so much fun. Great place to stop when driving back to Reykjavik from Diamond Beach.

The staff was fabulous. Friendly, helpful and the vibe was more like a visit with friends than a hotel. We rode horses a first for both of us and the guides and stable folks were terrific. Location is good for site seeing in the Vik area. The rooms were comfortable. 10/10.

We loved everything about this hotel in the charming countryside backed by mountains with views of Icelandic horses and the distant sea in front. The food at the restaurant was some of the best that we experienced in our weeklong stay in Iceland. The breakfast was complimentary with many options to choose from. Plenty of activities offered by the property including horseback riding with wonderful views from the mountaintop. The staff were extremely kind/courteous.
