We had a wonderful stay at Occidental Punta Cana! Everything was great, and we especially loved the convenience of our room being close to both the pool and the buffet. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. The only downside was that on the weekends the resort allows local day guests, which made the buffet lines much longer and beach towels were often unavailable. Overall, we had a great experience and enjoyed our vacation.

The rooms are nice for the price and the beach is beautiful and kept very clean. Staff is nice and service is okay. The food is not the best and all of the reservable restaurants take 45-60 minutes to serve your food after ordering and the food was almost always cold. The buffet desserts are decent! The drinks are good but you have to ask for extra alcohol to get a normal drink or you will just have a tiny little splash of rum. Overall it was okay for the price we knew it wouldn’t be perfect!

Several things were pretty good. Like the pools, the beach, the nightly entertainment, especially Michael Jackson. Even the specialty restaurants were at least pretty decent. The buffet was not very good. Coffee situation was really bad. Which is strange since you’re in the Dominican Republic, which has decent coffee beans. But worst of all was the weekend when they become overcrowded with locals visiting. I don’t know if it’s like that every weekend but if it is, I would avoid it on the weekends.

Our room in building 10-211 was beautiful. It was clean, with high vaulted ceiling and excellent air conditioning. The maid was great and filled our fridge daily with Presidente and soft drinks. Our building was close to all the restaurants and the main pool, but a few minutes walk to the beach. It was perfect! We visited all a la carte restaurants, it's hard to pick a favorite they were all great. I think the Italian was my favorite as it had the most options. The steaks at the steakhouse were also excellent as were the fajitas at the Mexican. The shows in the evening were entertaining. I really can't complain about anything, it has been a great relaxing week and we are sad to leave today. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay pleasant and memorable.
