My stay was perfect at the hostal. The owners were really nice and helpful. They also recommended activities and places and helped me arrange my itinerary to take advantage of all my days in Galapagos. On top of that they provided me with tours and tickets for the ferries to visit the other islands.

Casa Cascada is very clean, comfortable and pretty. The location is great too - an easy 10-minute walk to the port and tourist area, or a $2 taxi ride. There are also lots of great local restaurants that are very cheap on that 10-minute walk from the hotel to downtown. My room was big with air conditioning, a large window and a private bathroom. Although it had two beds, the owners don't ask you to share with any other guests. The owners Rocio and Sandro, and their son Alessandro went above and beyond in being helpful in every aspect, including giving directions, suggesting and connecting me with tours, arranging boat rides to other islands, arranging a taxi to the airport, providing discounts, and offering safety tips. My week-long stay was quite affordable and without a hitch. I highly recommend Casa Cascada.

Worst customer service experience ever, and the worst host I have encountered. The property is much farther from the pier than expected, and there was very little water pressure in the shower. The biggest issue was how the owner handled a pricing error. After our first night, we were overcharged at check-in due to a discrepancy with the price advertised and confirmed online. Instead of taking responsibility, the owner, Rocio, blamed Expedia and the customer. Rocio then suggested we cancel our second night. When Expedia contacted her to waive the cancellation penalty, she agreed only if we promised not to leave a negative review. This was extremely disappointing and inappropriate. We had an awful experience and spent significant time trying to resolve an issue caused by the property’s pricing error. Reviews should be honest and transparent, not used as leverage.

At check-in, the owner, Rocio, and her son told us that the price I had paid in full through Expedia was incorrect and demanded an additional $40 USD for the room I had already booked and paid for. They blamed Expedia, refused to take responsibility, and offered no alternative. Because I was travelling with my elderly mother and teenage son, I had no practical choice but to pay. When I refused to cancel, Rocio’s son suggested that we only wanted to keep the reservation so we could leave a low rating. I found this inappropriate and unprofessional. I repeatedly asked him to contact Expedia, but he kept postponing it, and the issue was never resolved. We also had a separate reservation for a second night, which I tried to cancel without penalty after the owner suggested it. Expedia told us that the property could waive the cancellation fee only if we agreed not to leave a negative review. Guest reviews should never be conditional on a refund or fee waiver. In the end, I paid an additional $40 USD for the first night and lost the payment for the second night. This was very disappointing, and I would not recommend this property because of the owners’ lack of professionalism and customer service.
