There is an excellent animal emergency center, Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists just down the road.

Great assortment of shops and restaurants/bars, while on the quiet side. Driver etiquette is great, can step into a crosswalk with out getting hit, drivers do stop for you. Everyone seemed friendly, actually saying hello while walking by.
