Vacations Close To Poodies Hilltop Roadhouse

I chose this hotel because the price was much lower than others in the area, and overall it was clean and reasonably well maintained. I travel to Round Rock weekly, so finding a good hotel that checks all the boxes without being overpriced can be difficult. The room was comfortable, the bed was soft, the A/C worked well, and having a kitchen was a nice bonus. There were some minor maintenance issues in room 313, including a loose bathroom door, rust on the bathroom fixtures, limited outlets, and a missing remote battery cover. The hotel layout also means a long walk if your room is far from the elevator. Parking could also be better. The lot only has one entrance/exit, parking in front is limited, and the parking area toward the back felt a little sketchy and less comfortable to use, especially later in the day. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the hot water. Even after letting the shower run for quite a while, the water never got beyond lukewarm. Most of the smaller issues I could overlook, but not being able to take a hot shower or bath was the dealbreaker. Because I travel to Round Rock every week, this could have been a good regular option for me. I wouldn't completely rule it out and would give the hotel another chance if the hot water issue was addressed. As it stands, though, I wouldn't stay again unless I knew that issue had been fixed.

Room had a continuous musty smell . Ac did not get cold enough. I found a live roach in my bathroom . And the floors are very thin since I literally heard the people above me every step and they where just walking

We stayed on the 2nd floor and there was NO ac in the hallway. Along with we were not able to adjust the thermostat in our room below 72 degrees to try to cool the room down the room because of the heat in the hallway. We had a room thermometer with us and it said the room was actually 78 degrees! Our baby was so hot while sleeping with no blankets and sweating in the bed all 3 nights. Luckily we had a fan we were able to keep on him to prevent him overheating but a working thermostat would’ve been better. On top of all the issues with the AC the fire alarm went off at 4am on our second night! It blared for 2 minutes and then stopped. Once we got our terrified baby back to sleep we called the front desk to report it. The front desk said “well if everything is fine then we will make a note of it”. No one called or came by to check on the fire alarm. We were also not told breakfast times changed on week days. Finally when we were checking out we mentioned the fire alarm again and were told “yeah that happens sometimes” which is totally not acceptable.

Room wasn't very clean. Found a toy on the ground not even hidden, and a roach in the room. Location wasn't convenient enough for the lack of care.
