What an absolute treat! This property is located at a wine vineyard with tons of history of the Calheiros family! We enjoyed walking the vineyard and a tour of the original family home of the Count of Calheiros! Truly a spectacular experience!

Our two-night stay at Paço de Calheiros was absolutely wonderful. We were met in the courtyard by Francisco, the Count Calheiros. He showed us to our room while giving us a quick rundown of the property and invited us to refreshments on the patio before dinner. He joined us and four other guests at dinner during which he provided an interesting history of the century’s old estate/vineyard and the Calheiros family. After dinner the Count gave us a tour of the castle. The location of this hotel is spectacular: it overlooks the beautiful town of Ponte de Lima in the valley below and is surrounded by vineyards in all directions. Guests have access to the vineyard and the gardens. There is a pool on the property as well. The meals were delicious and plentiful. Our spacious, clean room was furnished with traditional Portuguese pieces, comfortable beds and a modern, functional bathroom. I highly recommend this property and would gladly return if I travel to northern Portugal again.

The grounds are magnificent! The studio was charming and beds were comfortable. Everywhere were water fountains making it so relaxing. we were there for 3 days and it wasn’t enough. Would highly recommend!

Quinta em localização espetacular

A propriedade é impecavelmente bem cuidada pelo Sr. Francisco Calheiros. Trata-se de uma quinta secular próxima a belíssima cidade de Ponte de Lima, sendo um excelente local para apreciar a gastronomia local e descansar. Vale a visita!

Très bel endroit , château et site magnifiques, mais .....si certaines chambres ont fenêtres et belle vue , d'autres doivent se contenter d'1 porte fenêtre , voir d'1 vasistas (sous les toits),il semble que le fait d'être dans 1 château ou à côté, doive suffire au client ,qualité du service et de la chambre sont superflus !!!! De plus les plus belles chambres semblent être réservées aux groupes , les autres clients étant relégués dans les appartement à côté du château ou dans les chambres moins belles . Belle piscine

Paco de Calheiros - charming

Superb stay. The house has been restored beautifully, the gardens are a delight and the views are wonderful. We were particularly pleased with the service - the very gracious Count of Calheiros (whose family has owned the property for generations) joined us for breakfast and gave us an enthusiastic and informative tour. It's not the place to come if you want mod-cons (e.g. the beds are on the firm side and there are no televisions in the rooms) but it is utterly charming and we would definitely return.
