“This was the culmination of a self-promise made 11 years ago. Then, we had afternoon tea on the patio, but can’t remember how we discovered Portloe. We said we should stay here if we ever visit Cornwall again. Fast forward to now; an unexpected opportunity to re-visit Cornwall. And it came to pass. Our stay did not disappoint- the quirky corridors to our room, the spectacular views from the windows, the bright and airy restaurant and the opportunity (again) to observe a lone fisherman working on...

“I don't think I've ever been made to feel so unwelcome at a hotel or B'n'B. We were using public transport. We were dropped off by taxi at 10am. Obviously we weren't expecting to check in but I've never stayed anywhere where luggage storage isn't available. The owner's immediate reaction was to tell us we check in isn't until 2. She did allow us to leave the luggage but I was taken aback at the unwelcoming attitude. We came back at 2. Owner complained that she had no details about the booking....

“Beautiful old world building with lovely rooms, bar the bathroom being upstairs. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good especially the breakfast. Very disappointed that they had a special curry and pint offer where you couldn't have and alternative drink and when we ordered the curry anyway we were charged £20 without the beer wheras it was £15 with the beer!”

“Fabulous stay, wonderful room, very helpful staff and enjoyed our first stay. The only down side was no air con and only a fan to assist with the high heat. Will definitely be staying again.”

“An excellent two night stay at a location we hadn't visited for some years. Our dog-friendly room was really clean . Evening meals were good. Breakfast was not included though we think it is provided at other times of the year. There was however a very good cafe and shop next door that served breakfast, coffee and snacks. We will be back to both establishments in the next few months”

“Tienen varias casas a modo de hotel pero no lo indican en la reserva. Es mas bien casa de huespedes. Calidad del sueño muy buena y cama comoda. Baño pequeño. Alojamiento tipico inglés Mucha luz en habitacion sin cortinas opacas. No ascensor”

“Lovely stay in this friendly pub. Fantastic breakfast, plenty of choice. Staff were excellent, specially the lovely girl who worked so hard to make sure everything was OK. We were welcomed by the locals and had two days of live music in the garden. Fab weekend.”
