Friendly and accommodating staff - decor a bit tired - shower was broken on arrival but the staff were quick to sort it out. Clean, tidy and in a beautiful environment - lovely views from my balcony. Breakfast was good - ordering in advance at a set time meant no waiting for hot food.

As the name and geographical location suggest, the Moorland Hotel in Wotter sits high on a beautiful stretch of Dartmoor. The industry rating is 3⭐ which is probably fair and accurate. (Go somewhere else if luxury’s your thing). But whatever it may not have is handsomely offset by the hotel’s affordability; its natural and effortless charm; its truly stunning location; the warm welcome and the top notch cuisine. The Moorland is also host on Sunday nights to the famous Folk on the Moor Folk Club … which is why and where I was there to play. Our room was spacious and spotless affording views out to Plymouth Sound and as far as the Eddystone Lighthouse. Ample parking. And a great base for exploring Dartmoor. We loved the place and give special mention to the cheerful charm, cuisine and helpfulness of its Nepalese owners.

Location of the hotel for a peaceful setting is great. Also had an amazing view looking out to the ocean. Overall comfort, not so great. The place is very dated. I could feel every spring in the bed so had to lay on top of the duvet to maintain comfort. When I checked in, I was given the key and that was it. No other details. It was ok for one night.

This was my second time staying at this hotel. The staff are so lovely and friendly and make it a very enjoyable experience. I also love how quiet the area is - on the moor so I sleep very well here!

Room was clean with plenty of amenities amd an abundance of rea making facilities. Staff were really friendly and attentive. My only criticism is that parts of thr romm/hotel were started to look a little tired. A remote control which is actually readable would also be a big help. Location is fantastic with views out to Plymouth Sound

We enjoyed our 2 night stay here and we had a very good evening meal. A little out dated but we expected that as it’s a Moorland hotel and would rather it that way. Very near to the Hotel is the Drakes bike trail and one way is Tavistock and the other is Plymouth so makes excellent place to stay if you like biking😊

Outstanding good and friendly service! I was there for two nights and loved it. Also, the Duck Breast for Dinner was one of the best i ever had. Big compliment to the Chef in their kitchen. Would choose this hotel definitely again!
