We will definitely be going back! Best service and amenities. Do the all inclusive for gourmet food and drinks.

This was exactly what I was looking for! I wanted something quiet and relaxing and the Viceroy delivered. I have never felt so relaxed and well taken care of. The accomodations were private and you could just relax there because you felt like you were living in the jungle. The walk to the beach was filled with nature and we even saw monkeys. The staff was amazing and the food delivered. I will definitely come back I am so glad I found this gem.

I have been to the Yucatan Peninsula many times and this small resort is the best I have experienced. If you are looking for a relaxing time, no loud music, kids or loud adults, this is your place. My sisters and I travel to Mexico each year together and although this is more of a couple's retreat, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. They accommodated a third party in the room with an actual bed, and not just a cot or sofa. The villas were perfectly attenuated and the spa experience was one of the best we've had. The food was very good and service was impeccable. We will be back, if they'll have us :)

Painted a memory for our sister trip - the resort has a grove supplied with art supplies and canvases for guests to paint if they want

Exeptional experience from beginning to end. The property is gorgeous and the staff are incredibly helpful and kind. They really go out of their way to make every aspect of your stay as lovely as possible. The spa, the pool, the dining, the butler services, the focus on ecofriendly offerings--everything! A true highlight for us was the flora & fauna. The plants are so beautiful all over the resort, and the wildlife was even more spectacular than we could have dreamed. We saw coatis, sereques, iguanas, and spider monkeys! The spider monkeys really put on a show! And the resort treats them with such reverance & respect, it was magical. We also really enjoyed the private cenote experience with Daniel, if you can fit this into your trip, please do! The butler staff also set up a snorkeling excursion for us in Cozumel, this was some of the best snorkeling we've ever done, highly recommend. Though, if you're fair-skinned, please wear UV clothing, sunscreen alone will not be enough to protect you from those rays! All in all, the stay was incredible and we can't wait to go back!

Great place out of the busy city

This hotel is quaint and adorable for a quiet couples trip. The staff and service is impeccable. They are so very kind and attentive to every detail. The villas and very private and the grounds are lush jungle and really lovely

My husband and I had an outstanding stay at the Viceroy in Riveria Maya...incredible service at the highest level, quiet, peaceful and was the perfect place to unwind. I have traveled around the world and have stayed at all of the top resorts, including the Four Seasons, Auberge, Ritz Carlton, The Peninsula, Ranch at Rock Creek, etc. I cannot say enough about the staff and how they made us feel. Their outlook on life and how they love this property is something that I have never witnessed before. Unfortunately they are closing end of April 2026 for a full remodel and will not be opening again until spring of 2027. I highly recommend getting there before they close!

Viceroy Riviera Maya was the perfect spot for our honeymoon! Our villa was spacious and private. We loved the outdoor shower and patio area that was just for us. Restaurant service and food was TOP NOTCH. We were blown away at every meal. Viceroy staff anticipated our every need and provided personalized, detailed service that helped us take advantage of all the resort had to offer. From our welcome tour to being coached how to ensure we didn’t go hungry despite an early checkout before restaurants opened, we were truly pampered for the duration of our stay. A special note to La Marea server Yoshio — he gave expert menu recommendations and his passion and enthusiasm for food made every dinner that much more enjoyable. We can not wait to return. If I had to offer a critique: - The neighboring property’s entertainment carried on late into most evenings and could easily be heard throughout the property. - The jungle landscape is gorgeous but I wish we’d been able to enjoy a bit more sun from our private patio. The shade made the pool a bit too cool for our liking.

Second time staying. It is quite beautiful and unique, and you feel like a million bucks staying there. Impeccable cleanliness and upkeep. Very high ancillary prices in restaurants, minibar and spa. Remote location with little to walk to to buy snacks and sundries -- you are at the mercy of the very expensive minibar and the on-site boutique offers very little of a practical nature.

Fantastic + Some Tips

We had such a lovely stay at the Viceroy and will definitely be back. Beautiful property. VERY quiet and private. If you’re looking for a private escape into luxury…. This is it! And the staff was really incredible. The only two things that weren’t clear in other reviews that would have been helpful for vacation planning: You are a good 15-20 minute cab ride from Playa Del Carmen and it’s a standard $400 pesos each way. There is no where else to eat nearby except the resort (which does have good food - I’m obsessed with their coconut lemongrass drink!), but there are no options at the viceroy that aren’t expensive. So you have to take your $800 pesos cab to and from Playa to grab dinner.

Our stay was incredible. We went for a Babymoon and it was everything we wanted. The vibe was the most Chill. If you are going to party, this is not the spot for you. The resort was calm and quiet, exactly what we were looking for. We had the private Villa and it was the definition of privacy. They do an excellent job of making sure there isn’t a single spot that could look into our Villa or outdoor lounging area. We spent the majority of our time out there relaxing either on the comfortable lounging couch or in the plunge pool. The staff were so kind and respectful, after the first day, they remembered our names and our villa number. They did a great job of communicating with each other so that while we were at breakfast or dinner, the housekeepers would tidy up while we were out. The food was very good as well. I highly recommend the all-inclusive package. We saved money on dinning and drinks because of it and it made the whole stay so convenient. We will definitely be going back.
