The hotel is very clean. Staff are exceptionally nice and very helpful. Everyone speaks English. They work hard to keep the hotel maintained, though you may experience a couple of very minor issues. I would like to correct a prior review regarding the hotel not offering blankets, that is not correct. yes, when you check in there will be no blanket on your bed and there will be no blow dryer in your bathroom however, if you ask at the desk, they will provide you with both but you have to ask for them.

Luis and Jessica were great they provided everything we needed. The location was also great and there wasn’t many people there during our stay so we had to rooftop pool to ourselves. Would definitely stay there again!

Property was mostly clean but needs a bit of TLC, especially around the pool area. The area itself is nice - plenty of restaurants and things to see nearby. Unfortunately we had a lot of construction noise from next door and some music late into the night, but this is obviously outside the control of the hotel. Breakfast was disappointing as they couldn’t cater for my gluten free wife other than providing a small bowl of fruit. All in all though our stay was decent and we would consider staying again

I had an amazing stay at SOHO. The staff is so hardworking and friendly. The manager is always trying to make the stay enjoyable. She is an incredible manager. The rooms are spacious. The air conditioner was quiet and cooled the room nicely. The hotel is close to the beach and shopping area.

This property is only a few short steps to 5th ave. And a BLOCK from an OXXO. The hotel has an artistic feel with artwork from local artist that are available for sale. A massive water fall in the lobby. The lobby is an open air lobby. So no air conditioning. Which is why they received a 4 instead of a 5. My patents are older and they are visiting and the heat is hard on them. While waiting in the lobby with no air conditioning. It was a bit hard for them. The rooms are clean and spacious, hotel is close to food, shopping and the beach. Will be back for sure.

It was a bitter experience staying in this hotel. No coffee/tea maker or water provided in the first day. Breakfast was poor quality. Only a bread toast with tea and some fruit. No choice. No towels were changed when room cleaning was done. Staff at reception was good and cooperative.

This is a pretty property & staff is great. We arrived after the pool was closed & the young man at the desk turned on the lights for us to have a quick swim which was beautiful! Roof top pool all lit up, it was a lovely end to a stressful day. It was quite noisy until about 1:30am and then all was quiet. Room was simple but clean & nicely decorated with a huge balcony & rainhead shower

The property was in a great location. The property was not represented accurately on the Expedia website. There is no bar on the roof open (although the pool is very nice), nor was there yoga every morning. Breakfast was just fine but doesn't open until 9. 3 of the days we were there we couldn’t take advantage of the free breakfast because we had to leave before food was available. Rooms were clean and pleasant.

Superior Location and Outstanding front desk service with easy check-in. Classy and Chic. Perfectly situated to be 100 steps from 5th Ave yet unbelievably quiet in our room. The Best Sleep I've had in a month of staying in different hotels during our travels. Spacious room with a refrigerator and a complimentary bottle of wine. Fast elevators and underground parking were a bonus. The rooftop pool and lounging area was perfect with cool views, quiet and relaxing. We travel to Playa DC often and this will, no doubt, be our new "Go-To" hotel. If you've clicked on this, you're done looking. Reserve! You will not be disappointed!

Nice hotel but terrible construction nearby

Unfortunately our stay was less than ideal mostly because of the construction of the building directly beside the hotel. Starting at 7:30am everyday there was constant and very loud banging and hammering. The rooftop pool was also clearly unused and dirty due to the construction directly beside it with building materials falling into the pool. The rooftop bar also was not open probably for the same reason. Beyond all of that, the actual room was nice and relatively clean. We did lose hot water at one point and running water entirely at another. Both of which were remedied relatively quickly. I would stay here again once the construction beside us completed, but definitely would not while that is still ongoing.

We were looking for a new travel experience, far away from the all inclusive packages. This hotel was a pearl not luxury, but well maintained. Well located, close to the playa del Carmen downtown, 1 minute walk to 5th avenue. New staff of the hotel was very kind. We didn't try the breakfast, because we wanted to enjoy the typical food at restaurants, so I don't have any comment on this. The roof pool was refreshing, specially after a full day walking at 5th av. Also, beach is a 10 minutes walk. We arrived to playa del Carmen taking the ADO bus on terminal 2 of Cancun airport, it was cheaper than taking a taxi, once in playa del carmen we walked (20 minutes from turistic ADO terminal) to get to the hotel. We booked a all inclusive to Xel-ha and xelha bus picked up and dropped us at the end of the day at Plaza las Perlas (10 minutes walk). If you are looking for a more freedom trip, this is the perfect hotel. There is a construction next to the hotel, so during day, you can hear some bangs at your room, but this is normal and completely out of control of the hotel administration. If you want to try a new travel experience this is the right hotel for you ;)

Hotel location is ideal to explore Playa's ever growing areas. We stayed in the Master Suite - room size is excellent and the external Hot Tub a nice area to relax. We noted it was a special celebration and the staff did a great job on decorating the room for our special event. Initially, breakfast offer (continental) was very poor (as commented by others) - but on discussion with the Manager we agreed an upgrade - this was great and very healthy (served in Green & Fit) Hotel amenities are quite poor - Sky Bar should be renamed to Sky Terrace - as there is no Bar services and the whole upper deck area is falling into dis-repair and an underutilised space for the hotel. Pool appears to be maintained - but due to lack of facilities and particularly the poor state of the toilet/changing areas not used. Room amenities are very basic and limited to 2 coffees per day, 1 bottle of wine on arrival (for 2 persons this was not a luxury offering) - no other refreshments, or water given. Room service every other day. Cleaning staff are great and did a good job on the room, but public areas – particularly the toilets are not maintained. Front desk staff are disconnected from the guests and only respond when asked/ prompted for action. Overall, the hotel could be an excellent base in Playa, but without investment in the amenities – there offering of a bed & limited breakfast will cause them to decline further.

**Soho Playa Hotel Review** Our experience at Soho Playa had several disappointing aspects. When we first arrived, there was no electricity. We had to wait in the heat, which was frustrating since all I wanted was to rest after our journey. The hotel is conveniently located just a few blocks from the beach, about a 5-minute walk, so we decided to head there. I’m not sure when the power was restored since we returned to the hotel around 8 p.m. that evening. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was for the pool, but it was rarely clean. The hotel advertised a sky bar by the pool, which was nonexistent. During our 9-day stay, the pool was only cleaned twice, and that was because I specifically requested it. The worst experience happened on our last day. The fire alarms went off, and my son and I were terrified. The hallways were filled with thick fog, making it hard to see or breathe. We rushed out of the room, unsure of what was happening. The hotel administrator approached us and explained that they were fumigating and asked us to return to our room. However, the smoke had already started entering our room, so we had to leave and go outside to get fresh air. Although the staff apologized and admitted the fumigation was handled poorly, the situation was still unacceptable. The overuse of spray caused a lot of unnecessary panic for us and other guests. I understand mistakes happen, better management and communication could have avoid this kind of situation.
