Our overall stay was OK. The pool area is really nice and the buffet was ok. We were under the impression that there were several restaurants open each night but in reality it's the buffet and 1 restaurant. You have to wait in line at 930 am to make a reservation at the restaurant and they have very limited seating. We were only able to get a reservation 1 day. The ocean water was really mossy and each morning our bathroom smelled of sewage to the point where I wanted to vomit. Staff was friendly, entertainment was good, but there are definitely some areas where there could be improvement.

We spent five wonderful days at this hotel. We wished we had stayed longer. Everything was perfect— the upkeep of the common areas, the rooms, the restaurants, the pools... everything was perfect! And what a pleasure the all-inclusive option was; we always managed to find something we enjoyed eating! Unfortunately, long lines for restaurant reservations meant we only managed to dine there once—though the meal was excellent. The staff are LOVELY, smiling, and very helpful. The entertainment is top-notch. Just a few minutes' walk across from the hotel, there is a small shopping center with a Starbucks and a bar/restaurant—perfect for picking up a few souvenirs! I returned home today, and I’m writing this with tears in my eyes as I look back on my stay. For all of this, I thank Allegro Playacar!

When we checked in our Room had standing water on most of the floor, and smelled like a mix of mold and sewage. Housekeeping would knock on our door at 8:00 am sharp as our unsolicited wake up call. Buffet Food was borderline inedible, and the a la carte restaurants were almost impossible to get reservations for. We tried every morning to get a reservation for the restaurants and every time they said they were full and would put our name on the waiting list. We left the buffet every meal hungry due to poor food quality and lack of options. I’ve had better food in a public school cafeteria. The drinks were actually pretty good and the bartenders acted happy to make them for us which was nice.

It was my boyfriend’s first time on vacation and for two people who don’t have kids, we had a great time at a family resort. There was so much to do and the food was amazing. The buffet was perfect every time we went. So many options and the drinks are endless. The AC could have been a bit better. But overall amazing time and would come back again. The staff were amazing with remembering names which was incredible and felt very welcoming.

Definitely a budget resort but not bad if you're okay with that. We had some leaks in the room that were coming from the air conditioner or from the roof. Tv did not work but that was okay since we weren't really there to watch TV. Lots of food and it was pretty good but nothing incredible. Super nice access to beach and two nice pools. Biggest complaint would be that it was farther from downtown playa del Carmen than I thought. It's inside a gated community so you can't really walk to downtown. However, there were some cute little walkable shops nearby. Adorable creatures like agouti and igunas. The taxi staff was super helpful. There wasn't a concierge to help you plan trips, they could only help you book trips that were pre-arranged through their sister business. Overall for the price it was good, but if I had a little more to spend I'd probably choose to stay somewhere closer to more activities.
