Great Historic Charm in a Perfect Location! If you love vintage hotels with a lot of character, the Historic Cary House is a fantastic place to stay. It’s located right in the heart of downtown Placerville, making it incredibly convenient to step out and explore the town. Because it’s an authentic historic building, everything is on the older side. Just a heads-up for future guests: even though the rooms do have AC, the older infrastructure means it can still get a bit warm inside, so just come prepared for that! That being said, the rooms were very clean, and the beds were nice and comfortable. It's a wonderful, unique spot if you want to soak up some local history!

The Cary Hotel is my favorite place in Placerville. It's beautiful, comfortable, and convenient. The staff just couldn't be nicer. My favorite part is the little bits of historical knowledge all over the place.

This is a 170 year old hotel with an elevator from the 1920's and it does show its age but it's conveniently located right on the main street going through the tourist destination of Placerville. Acceptable cleanliness and staff was very friendly and helpful. The decor and carpeting and fixtures showed a significant amount of wear. If you're looking for the fun and the ambiance of the town it's good - if you're looking for a hotel comparable to Marriott or Hyatt it's not in that category.

kitchenette had 2 forks 2 knifes 2 spoons 2 plastic plates 2 plastic glasses a oven mit ,i have no idea why they had a stove e in the room there was nothing to cook with, also the refrigerator door should have been made to open on the left side to make it easier to get into. I wanted a king size bed and the option was a room with a kitchenette good thing i didn't need to cook. The chairs in the room are not convertible to sit in. the flooring in the sitting/kitchen area needs to be replaced, there was a broken cover plate. in the bathroom the wall had been patched but not painted. I love the history of the hotel and the woodwork

We loved the Cary House. It's an old historic hotel, gorgeous lobby, furnished with period furniture, and an amazing old elevator. If you're into more modern and up to date furnishings and rooms, stay somewhere else. The people that work here are awesome. We'll be going back!

It was warm hot but property hadn’t switched over to AC so was given a standing fan. Incomplete set up in kitchen. Had to ask for bowl and spoon, which staff was able to find. Charming property. Next time, will try to get a room that faces street. Great, helpful, knowledgeable front desk staff.
