Beautiful hotel with lots of character. Our room was so clean and beautiful, and we had an amazing view of the city. We booked a studio, but we were upgraded to a suite. The staff was very friendly as well.

Loved the beautiful historic building! Staff were wonderful and so helpful! Units were very nice and roomy. Everything was very clean! Location was perfect to Strip District, downtown, DLL convention center, and even North Side if you don’t mind a walk. Check-in and parking were a bit of a problem but easily handled by front desk staff. GPS takes you to a paid parking lot beside the building and not into the actual entrance to the hotel. We loved the coffee machine in the lobby!! It’s amazing!

Property is a beautiful, historic building in a convenient location off the freeway. Our rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable with the exception of no central air. A loud, mobile air unit was in two of the rooms. The blinds in one room could not close because of a missing wand. Also the roku was not working. Keep in mind hotel room is near train tracks. Staff was kind enough to meet us at the parking area door to let us into the building so that we could conveniently check in (some parking is near an amtrak station).

Quite enjoyed our stay at The Placemkr. Our room was clean and comfortable, the valet parking was convenient & efficient, and the staff there and at reception were friendly and helpful. Blackout curtains would’ve helped, as we were across from the bus/train stations and there were only Venetian blinds to block out the light. Otherwise we quite enjoyed our stay. Also, great curb appeal!

Great location to downtown and beautiful building and architecture. This facility has a combination of long-term and short-term rental units. Our unit was well appointed with bedroom, living room, kitchen and one bath and generally very clean and well appointed. Only issue we had was the blind in the bedroom had fallen and was on the ground and was not fixable. That created problem at night as the lights from a large office building were visible all night long. Biggest downside was that the hotel is adjacent to the Amtrak station and across road from the Greyhound bus station so getting into and out of hotel can be challenging during daylight hours. Also, on site parking is very limited, which makes finding a place to park and unload luggage very difficult. There is valet parking in underground garage, but that can't be accessed until you check in and get an access code to enter the gated access to the garage. Overall, a positive experience.

The bed was very comfortable, the kitchen was great, the TV was nice but no local channels, I didn't use the washer/dryer but nice to have in the room. The only issue was road noise came through the large windows.

As an Amtrak train traveler, the location is so convenient to train, bus, and local transportation. The building itself is a historic landmark related to the Pennsylvania Railroad. Be aware it’s a historic building which is probably the reason the A/C could not keep up with the hot and humid weather in Pittsburgh. The room was larger than I expected. Kitchenette was a plus, but I didn’t take full advantage since I only stayed one night. I would love to stay here again despite the A/C being loud and not as effective. The building is beautiful with lobby furnishings that give an homage to its railroading past. The Great Hall looks like a grand train station waiting area in the heyday of rail travel.
