“Temperatura de la habitación: -50ºC. Para dormir en manga larga+sudadera + tapado hasta el cuello. Hacía muchísimo frío. Mal olor en los pasillos. Pasillos laberínticos, con malos olores. “This place is a hidden gem ! A beautiful old hotel sympathetically modernised yet retaining its historic feel. The adjoining restaurant/bar served some truly wonderful dishes and all the staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming”

“Breakfast was really good, staff were all very nice and helpful. Our room was very tired looking and needs modernising, if not a least fresh paint, carpet, curtains, linen. Our cold water tap didn't work. I told reception and asked for additional water, which they agreed but we didn't receive any. The shower was over the bath, and didn't work well, one minute you would get a blast of cold water and the next really hot. Bathroom definitely needs to be updated. The pool was good, however...

“I was really looking forward to my stay at The Candlesticks. However as soon as I entered, I began to have my doubts. The bar area, where the owner received us, looked particularly shabby and it smelt musty. It was 3pm (an hour after checking-in should have started) and the room wasn't ready.
