On Oct 8th, Thursday evening around 7, I parked my car in front of the house that I booked. A man with no shirt on quickly came out of the house through the front door, walked in the grass and yelled, "Are you checking in?"
As a man, by myself, I was taken back. I paused before saying, "Good evening".
He tilted his head and said, "Good evening". Then I said, "Sir, I'm trying to drop off my stuff".
He proceeded to let me know that HOA is suing him for all of these violations of cars being parked OVERNIGHT in front of his house. And that I wasn't being direct with him about answering his question.
His approach was very unprofessional with no greeting and did not state who he was from the very beginning. I really don't think he should handle public relations.
Also, I found it odd that he wanted the guests to remove their shoes when entering his house but he has animals (dogs and chickens --> yes chickens) being inside! The carpet was heavily stained and the kitchen was not a place I would felt comfortable eating at.
The towels were just as stained so I didn't use them. Doors squeaked and the walls were not thick enough to cancel enough the noise from other rooms or downstairs.
Personally, I don't think he should have his young family living in a house he is allowing strangers to stay since he mentioned to me about his HOA rant and his encounter with me.
I definitely will never book at that location and probably won't consider booking any "rooms" at someone's house again.
