Vacations Close To Molas Pass

Bed was comfy and the room was large. The floor in front of the sink was oddly very soft, like it had been flooded at some point (on the second floor). Air conditioning was good.

Clean rooms, older place, good breakfast. About $100 more expensive than most Super 8 places.

We stayed in room 206. You could put a can by the ac unit, and it would roll all the way across the room to the door. Other than thinking I had vertigo, it was an awesome experience.

It was an older lodge, but the location was right downtown and walking distance to everything. It's really close to the train station.

It is situated in an adorable little town. The room was nice and the bathroom awesome. There was no tv in the room, which was a little different. We could not figure out how to work the thermostat. Two "issues" that we had: 1. The second night the bar was very loud and we were the first room from the bar. There were also doors slamming everywhere. 2. It was advertised as getting a bottle of wine for each night stayed there. This we had to ask for and then they needed to verify.

a) hallways are dark and dated; doesn’t feel fresh b) room TV not responsive to poorly marked remote; night clerk had no idea how to adjust; no in-room tutorial on use of non-intuitive remote; engineer came next day on request, and indicated that they’ve had a lot of complaints about the “new system” (confirming what the evening clerk had told us the night before) and that he didn’t like it [NOTE TO BRANDS: Don’t introduce new systems without having them vetted in a variety of properties and a variety of management companies] [NOTE TO OWNERS: Involve your operating teams or your management companies’ operating teams, not just the corporate teams, in these decisions] c) front desk attendants are terrific; friendly, knowledgeable (except about TV’s; see above); breakfast buffet was as expected (some fresh fruit would have been a nice add); rear entrance (near the only elevator) does not have disabled parking; Chief Engineer is A+ d) Housekeeping is poor — a piece of trash was sitting on the floor next to the elevator for almost 24 hours before Hkpg picked it up to throw it out, and its location was adjacent to the hkpg room on the same level; Hkpg missed our alternate day service one day; the next day, after my request, and our being out of the room for 3 hours, we came back to a disheveled room. The Hkpg Supervisor attempted to explain why (Hkpr doesn’t speak English; Hkpr doesn’t have schedules during the day) rather than apologizing. Supervisor was a clear FAIL.

We were in town for a lot of outdoor adventures with our dog, so this was a wonderful choice for us. They are dog-friendly, as is the entire town. The rooms are updated and cute with a fun modern boho redone motel feel. It feels new and old at the same time and is very charming. This is very much more of a DIY hotel experience, though; there are not a lot of cleaning services because its unnessary, which I appreciate and is more environmentally friendly. They're happy to accommodate you; just know that you have to ask. You are on the north end of town, so there aren't as many shops and restaurants right there, but nothing is far away; it is perfect for getting out of town for outdoor adventures. Overall, it was a perfect experience for us and our dog to spend time in the town I grew up in while having a nice spot of our own to return to.
