The whole experience exceeded our expectations. The room was beautiful, very comfortable, with a great bathroom, and there was a whole private lounge area for hotel guests. The food, drinks and service were excellent. It was a welcome oasis in the desert and we’d love to go back again.
Bar was well stocked. Room was great. Staff was outstanding. Food was delicious. Unique location and vibe at the border of the Outback

What a gem in the middle of nowhere. The hotel, the food, and especially the staff were all Five Star.
Thank you for a magic stay over two days.
Passing through or looking to base your self there, then treat your self gold. Do it!
We spent 3 days in the Flinders Ranges and not being experienced in camping, chose the Prairie as our base. We loved staying here! The hotel is so comfortable, clean and perfect for a good night’s rest after a long day out on the road. The food is delicious and worth trying their feral antipasto. Breakfast is included and it was delicious with plenty of options (continental and cooked). We were very well looked after by Ellie, Becky and Manny who were always friendly, up for a chat and very helpful with tips on how best to get around the area. Definitely recommend staying here and we’d definitely come back.
We booked looking for solitude and quiet.. 10/10 !
If you can't live without the net or your phone, it will take some adjusting (it’s very worth it), short drive to get back online if you need.
Kelly was a good communicator and easy to deal with.
We really enjoyed the rustic nature of the pub and dining room. The room was large, clean, super comfy bed and the bathroom was very nice.

A fabulous outback experience in the back of beyond. Great welcoming staff, partic Ellie and Bec, and luxurious accommodation. Interesting menu and delicious food. Externals could do with a tidy up.
The hotel has lost some of its charm after renovations although some may be impressed by the new bar. The stay was spoiled by the loud people in the next room with offensive language.
The menu retains its interesting feral options but the remainder would be better if it concentrated on basic Australian staples. Breakfast was very limited in choices.
Hippest hotel in the middle of nowhere ever!!! super cool property, decorated with wonderful indigenous art, great restaurant and very convivial and helpful atmosphere.
Wonderful staff made this stay memorable, plus the ambience and magnificent Flinders Ranges! We also lucked some live performances by John (Johno) O’Dae, roll on ‘Parachilna sunset’!
Other than the food in the hotel restaurant which was good, the room in the hotel was in the 1950's style. Many cracks on the walls, a few spiders on the high ceiling of the room, no refrigerator and the air conditionned was not powerfull enough to cool down the room temperature (it was 36 C outside) even though it was at 18 C with the fan at maximum. I did not sleep well, the room was too warm. Although the hotel is the only establishment in this town, I do not recommend this hotel.
Not much more can be expected from a place this far out in the Outback. We were very pleasantly surprised and completely satisfied with our stay. From what we saw of other places an hour or so down the road either way, we made a great choice. I'd recommend this to anyone.
Great find in the outback and good base for exploring the Northern Flinders. Website booking for guest numbers didn’t equate with accomodation bedding for some unexplained reason. Lucky we didn’t need the beds in the end.
