Good location in Palm Desert.

A great place to stay in the area especially if you take advantage of the tennis programs. Nice Restaraunt’s nearby. Not a fancy place. Used to have a strong pickleball program but they got rid of that. Reasonably priced stay. Adequate golf course.

Shadow Mountain Resort

Nice place, close to our pickup spot for Stagecoach. This place had very friendly staff, and was easy to check in, they accommodated an early check in BIG PLUS. However the front of the rooms had no windows it looked like a jail cell block as you walked to the front door. No door fob’s old fashioned key. The room was rather small not like the pictures, small’ish fridge small kitchen but we made it work.Had a wet mop smell when we entered, opened sliding back door immediately. Pool was the biggest draw, had a restaraunt were you could grab “Bloody Mary’s” also food too ;). Be aware you will hear these tennis players early in the mornings…

It was built in 1946 and that shows. The heater/air conditioner was very noisy. The tennis courts were in good shape except for one.the weather was cold so we didnt use the large pool. The kitchen was too small in the studio unit.

The entire staff at Shadow Mountain was great to deal with. Sherry and the Tennis Shop was very accommodating and helped us with our tournament

Shadow Mountain is one of the older developments in Palm Desert, dating originally from 1946. Its main pool is an iconic landmark and much of resort space is devoted to tennis courts. Its location adjacent to El Paseo is great, so all the best shopping and dining is just a walk away. Look very carefully at any unit you wish to rent as they are individually owned and the updates (or lack thereof) will be highly variable. We stayed in a Creekside unit which was well away from the tennis courts and was extremely quiet, but the unit itself was very dated. Functional, but old. I used the gym everyday and, despite mentioning it twice to staff, it was never cleaned during our stay. Small annoyances, balanced by a good location and easy navigation.

Bistro nice when open, which wasn't often. Room not anything as shown on website Bed in living room, no dressers for clothes. Cheapest utensils, dark as a cave, furniture with stains, tiniest soap I've ever seen. This was a splurge at $350 a night for our 31st anniversary. Worst place we ever stayed.

Definitely an oldie

The "resort" is really dated, and the offer failed to mention there is no on-site restaurant - or even a snack machine - which meant a 15-minute walk to the business area in 100 degree heat. The only thing "resort"-like about it was a pool; otherwise it could have been mediocre motel.

The property is run down: chipped paint, holes in the ceiling tiles, ancient & noisy A/C unit, dated room decor. The towels are rough & of very poor quality. The toiletries provided are embarrassing: bar of soap & shampoo of Motel 6 caliber. The lighting in the parking lot & throughout the exterior of the property is very dim (making it feel unsafe). There are residents who live there. After midnight on the night of my arrival, there were 2 dogs running around the parking lot barking with the owner chasing them. In the middle of the day, there was a different larger dog (pit bull or pit mix-aggressive looking) was sitting on the grass near the pool-not on a leash & not restrained. The front desk closes I at some point at night, so security personnel checked me in. I interacted with one staff member over the phone & 2 in person-they were all very friendly & helpful. The pictures & description for this "resort" are not consistent with what I experienced during my stay.
