What an absolute wee gem of a motel! Everything you need, nothing you don’t, beautifully clean and THAT VIEW!!! Highly recommend, we loved our stay here.

Lovely and peaceful stay at Pounawea waterfront motel! Communication with property manager was excellent with contactless checkin and the place itself has plenty of room! Would stay again and maybe stay longer as it is truly a pleasant location.

Perfect Getaway.

My wife and I had a wonderful 2 nights and have recommended this property to some of our friends already. My daughter and husband are hoping to get down sometime in March. If we were to go back to the Catlins, we would definitely stay again.

This motel is very cute. It is in a stunning location with an uninterupted view of the sea. Parking just outside the door. It has a full kitchen and bathroom with two bedrooms. The interior design features are modern and it is spotlessly clean. Will definitely come back and stay much longer. Would thoroughly recommend it to everyone.

The room was satisfactory plus and in a good location, unfortunately they had a hiccup with their water heating system and we had no hot water in the morning. (I understand it was corrected later in the day.) The jalousey window in the bathroom needs repair. Overall, 5-6 out of 10.

Great waterfront location, spacious and comfortable. Located down a no exit road which is an attraction for walkers and those visiting the lake front also. Park for children and big kids just at the end of the road too.

We stayed for only one night on our flash tour of NZ. The property managers are so very friendly! The view is magnificent! It is quiet and peaceful! I wish we could have just hung out for and entire day and evening! It was just beautiful! The accommodations are clean and simple just how I like them!!

The views were stunning. The unit was tidy and amply roomy and well lit. We would have liked easy access to laundry facilities and there were insufficient accessible power points inh the bedrooms. The owners were friendly and approachable but initial contact arrangements were vague.

This property overlooks the river and beach. It is older looking from the outside but the rooms are quality and comfortable on the inside. We arrived early and the friendly staff worked hard to accommodate us. Large space with adequate cooking and living arrangements. It has HVAC.
