The location is good. The staff was very helpful and friendly. But, the hotel itself, given the high price, is terrible. Lack of such basic items like shampoo and tissue paper (there is toilet paper and body wash, and that's all). No room service either. Outrageously expensive for such low quality. Will not recommnd unless this lack of amenities is a norm in Oslo.

Stayed in a deluxe double room on 5th floor and it was modern, spacious and bright, with high ceilings, with a large bathroom. There was a small issue with the seal on the shower which meant water leaked out. The beds were really comfortable and we slept very well. Some noise from the Dubliner bar across the road on weekend nights meant it was loud even with window closed. Would be an issue for light sleepers. Room was not cleaned for the 4 days we were there (this was communicated in advance). Not an issue for us but could be for others. Some minor room issues like lightbulbs being broken, visible dust on wooden floors around the beds. A deeper clean may be needed between stays. Only dealt with staff when checking in and out and they were friendly, as well as cleaning staff in corridors who welcomed us. Communal reception areas were clean and cosy. We were able to leave bags when arriving and room wasn’t ready, as well as after check out. The location is great and just a few minutes walk to main central sights. For a private room, this price was very reasonable. A lot of the poorer reviews refer to dorms, which we did not stay in. Would not hesitate to stay here again based on the great value for money.

Comfortable room

Small but practical room for 1 night stop over. Big clean bathroom, sink was broken on the side, big hole in the ceramic. Odd that it has not been fixed yet. Nice and quiet to sleep and comfortable bed

A comfortable bargain

This is a college dorm, not a resort hotel. I liked that fine. It kept the cost a bit lower. Like lots of European cities, Oslo is set up for walking and public transportation, not private cars. Which makes this hotel perfect. It's in the middle of town, within a mile on foot from all sorts of attractions. It's also within a mile of the ferry that can take you to Bygdoy, which has all the museums. You can also reach Bygdoy by bus, but preferred to pay for a short harbor cruise. Vigeland Sculpture Park was my favorite thing, but seemed to be about 2 or 3 miles away, further than I was willing to walk. I hadn't figured out the busses, so my wife and I took a cab. Oslo isn't cheap. It has always been expensive. My uncle reported that my grandfather wouldn't eat when he went back to visit in about 1960. He like the food of his childhood and could afford it. He just felt that it was too expensive. Maybe that's why he moved to the US in the first place.
