It is located in a nice part of town which we appreciated. While one of the selling points for us was that it was a lower pet rate and they really are pet friendly- our room was ajar when we arrived (11pm) which was a bit unsettling. However the worst part was swinging the door open and having a wave of animal urine smell hit us in the face. Obviously we have a pet but for the pet friendly rooms to have such a strong/overwhelming/gross smell really ruined our stay. It made everything else in the room “feel” gross/dirty. A potential solution would be to NOT have carpet in pet friendly rooms or have better smell mitigation measures in place. Staff were not available- I had a family member staying in a non-pet room and smell was not a factor but they tried to contact the hotel ahead of there stay and called several times and no one answered. Staff that I saw were there occasionally and didn’t seem approachable. This was my first extended stay hotel experience and I understand there is a bit of a “lesser” experience in these types of places but smell and customer service are huge variables for me. I would not recommend- pay the extra money to stay at Holiday/Hampton Inn
