I loved staying here!! It is RIGHT NEXT to the police station of Council Bluffs and walking distance to 3 convenient stores, a Hy-Vee and 2 exits away from Henry Doorly Zoo and Lauritzen Gardens. Clean, quiet and nice staff

We got in late traveling cross country and the staff were very nice. We had a mixup as our GPS took us to the Quality Inn on Broadway (yikes that place is scary), and we were grateful to realize our reservations were at this location. Scooters coffee is close as well as Taco Bell. The beds were super loud though and on weird platforms, every time you turned it made noise. The breakfast was okay with biscuits and gravy. The apples had fruit flies all over them. For the price and passing through it was all we needed.

The staff brought a whole new level to customer service. They were friendly, kind, and very helpful. When we had issues with the TV, they were there within 10 minutes to fix it. The pool was clean and the kids had a great time swimming. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. Thank you very much to the staff for the excellent job they did.

We enjoyed our stay. The pool was great, breakfast was delicious, staff were super friendly. The only thing I did not give 5 stars for was maintenance. The reason is because there was a patched hole in the wall in our room. It was very sloppily done. There was another door in the hallway that had some damage that was slightly off putting. Otherwise, great place for the price.

Check in was fine , staff were friendly . Our room was awful ! Very dirty ,dirt all over bathroom floor . Unclean bathtub. Husband cleaned it and had unclogged the drain because it wouldn't drain . Empty beer can found on nightstand. Only reason we didn't leave was because we had been traveling all day and were exhausted. Definitely wont do that again! Breakfast was ok .

Lots of grime, especially in public areas. Trash in hall and pool area left for multiple days. In the room the carpet, curtain, and walls all had stains and blobs of grime. The beds were inner spring mattresses on a thin metal frame, so were very loud. Bedding had stains and burns. Staff was friendly and breakfast was ok. Each area of the hotel had its own unique funky smell. I've stayed in worse, but really really needs a deep clean.

This hotel was probably one of the worst we have ever been in for quite some time. The property was not well maintained, had a terrible oder in the hallways and even when first stepping in the room it had a funny oder. Not sure the last time anything had been repainted and everything was dark and dingy. Plug-in in the bathroom did not work, TV was set at wrong time to view the proper guide and maintenance couldn't understand what we needed to have them fix the problem. Front desk clerk was friendly and helpful. However, I certainly would not recommend unless you're desperate for a room.

I will say first and foremost, the front desk staff was very kind and apologetic. So we were comforted by that and felt how sorry she was. We do not believe that this hotel is meant for families, it is beyond disgusting. We got there about 9pm, we were given a room and room card, went to that room and used the key card - there was someone already there. Went back down and got another room, and it was not clean whatsoever, cat food all over the ground smelt like cigarettes, a used water bottle. What was weird is we got into that room and the front desk called us, asking it how it was which showed us she knew she gave us a used room again. So she gives us the room next door. Just please if you have small kids like we did, 10 mos and 3 yrs, don’t take your kids here. Breakfast is very underwhelming, it isn’t worth the price, not up to date, not clean, and a lack of reimbursement for our troubles.

We were traveling from California to Michigan and made an overnight stop in Council Bluffs. Since we were traveling with pets, we needed a pet-friendly hotel and chose the American Inn after reading many positive online reviews. The staff was very kind and friendly, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the condition of our room was disappointing. The moment we walked in, there was a strong odor that smelled like mold. The wall AC unit appeared to have a newer front cover, but the inside was visibly dirty with dust, grime, and what looked like mold buildup. We chose to leave it off and open the windows instead. The beds appeared clean, thankfully, but the bathroom had splatter marks on the walls, heavy dust around the exhaust vent, and visible mold growth on one of the interior doors. After two long days of driving with two dogs, we were too exhausted to search for another hotel, otherwise we likely would have left. To be fair, this was a last-minute trip during what appeared to be graduation weekend, so finding pet-friendly accommodations was difficult. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I do think travelers should know what to realistically expect. The staff was pleasant, but the cleanliness and maintenance of the room need significant attention.
