Go to Garmisch, far better location, more to offer and far more reasonalbe dining establishments. Been to both villages multiple times for work and I'm flatly stating it's 2 (Oberammergau) vs 9 (Garmish).

This is a very unique town, centrally located it to other area attractions. Everything is within walking distance from the hotel if you are going to just looking around the town otherwise you have to drive to other attractions.
