The thermostat control system had a “service required” on display so I could not make the room warmer and then I couldn’t get warm water in shower. Once I was in bed I was warm and slept great! It was a short stay on the way to my final destination. If I was expecting a longer stay, I would have requested another room, but in this case it wasn’t a big bother.

Front desk staff were welcoming and friendly! There’s a Safeway and some restaurants directly across the street within walking distance which was nice. I did not have a vehicle during my stay, so that was really convenient! I didn’t venture further down the street because I was there for just one night, but I think there may have been some more restaurants. Good sidewalks & traffic lights to keep you safe if you have to hoof it!

There is a shopping center across the street with a few easy eating options (we chose Panda Express). There was a good frozen yogurt option for dessert. If you want to "fend for yourself", there is a large Safeway Supermarket with lots to choose from. The slow check-in was due to an illness in the primary front desk person so I am assuming it was temporary. The staff was friendly and when we needed help with the TV, they responded quickly. Clean, neat accommodations which fit our needs and a good quality bed.

I go to the east bay a lot for business. the area is safe,, quiet and restaurants are close by. the 580 is right there! for the price of $86 a night that's a bargain!

My son attends UC Berkeley and we visited him for Parent’s Weekend and Homecoming. This hotel is 25 minutes away from Berkeley nestled in Castro Valley, a nice, safe and quiet town. The hotel manager and staff are welcoming and very friendly. I recommend this hotel.
