The hotel is a charming, family-run business with an elegant atmosphere. However, the room did not match the photos or this atmosphere, and I had to request a desk setup even though the description mentioned one. Breakfast was okay, and the location is excellent.

It's 10 minute walk from the Norrkoping Central Train station. Large gray former house. Built in 1897 and converted into a hotel in 1943. I had a single person room. So it was small. Just one window. No AC, small bathroom. Taking a shower results in the whole tile floor getting soaked. Breakfast is included and it's very good, eggs, bacon, toast, jams, rolls, sliced cold cut meats, cheese, some sliced fruit, cereal, juice, coffee and tea.

I loved the amazing staff and the individual rooms named after kings and royals, the insanely comfortable beds, the special building and its history, the breakfast room and lobby and where the hotel is located. It was wonderful to feel so welcomed and a home at the Strand Hotell. It's a very family and dog friendly hotel. I must say I found the style /design a bit weird - loads of different souvenirs/ accessories from different centuries spreaded. Fur on antique couches between "modern" seats. Thousands of different looking pillows. It felt a bit cheap or like there was no clear style - just too much stuff everywhere. I think some renovations and modernisations would do good - just for the eyes to rest. I would suggest to clean the dirty bathroom ceiling, fixing up the bathroom door, change the linolium to tiles, getting something to cover the windows from daylight, no room spray /diffuser and definitely get new nice looking towels and toss the old ones that look very very used. All in all I expected more for a hotel in this price range but we had everything we needed actually and the staff really made our stay. It was a unique experience and we keep it as something very special in our hearts.

The receptionist was not friendly or service minded at all. I have never been treated worse by hotel personnel. I came early with a young child and two cats and we were all tired, and asked for a place to rest before checking in. The cats needed to stretch their legs efter hours of travelling, locked in a box. We were kicked out of the hotel, because they had absolutely no place in the whole hotel for us to stay and rest, and were asked to come back hours later. We never returned. I found a better place across the street where they were very service minded and friendly.
